Colorado did it to Forsberg. Ottawa sold EK for what seemed like at the time pennies on the dollar. I think the Brent Seabrook buyout is coming down the pike real soon and he is probably a borderline HOF

I agree with you though, I don't think the team has it in them to buyout Hank regardless of what happens.

Brent Seabrook is a better comparable but I don't think his points totals get him into the HoF unless his rings do all the lifting there. No Conn Smythe/Norris to speak of either.

I think a bunch of that team gets in. Gotta figure Kane, Toews, Keith, and Hossa are slam dunks. Seabrook is probably on the borderline though he might never get in. If Sharp had played longer there was probably an outside shot he got at least some consideration.
