What if a teammate comes off the bench and sets up a screen on the goalie?
- jmatchett383

As long as he doesn't touch the puck. You could get a too many men on the ice penalty otherwise.

There's prob a rule against that, but you are correct about no penalties in the shootout haha

you were loving it while they were losing.

Now now now. I am sure that the bruins are the best team in the nhl. Don’t forget how tired the team is. Plenty of hockey left. Only down a field goal.

Tomorrow at the defending champs lol
- bulet13

Lol indeed.

Well - now trying not to be cynical - at least tomorrow at StL is an opportunity to break out of the recent road woes. If they win tomorrow, it might genuinely be a turning point in the season. And I believe it just about this time last year that the Blues had their turning point in our building.

It's a very technically difficult move, so not everyone will have sufficient skills for it.
- missingmike

If he missed the puck entirely he gets to start over. All that energy that built up has to be let go and built up again. Like icing the kicker or free throw shooter only here the shot taker was trying to ice the goalie.

Proverov with the puck on his stick and proverov without the puck are two very different players. I love when provy is playing defense but when he is skating up ice with the puck, I get very scared. When he has the puck his awareness seems to drop to zero and all he wants to do is skate into the zone and get a shot off. It limits the bad things that can happen but also the goods things.

he is actually very strong with the puck, he does not panic and he shields the puck well

Myers has been pretty bad the last few games but hes also going against tougher opponent players than Hagg. He has to be better though no question about it. He's too prone to the egregious breakdown that leads to a goal

At least Myers adds something in the O-zone but if he can steady himself until Ghost and Braun return we may survive this yet

- bulet13

It's been more than just he last few games for Myers. Why do you think he's been a frequent scratch? Myers defensive coverage deep and around the net has been poor for most of the season.

Last night on the Coyle goal, Haag's horizontal spacing was terrible and he did the wrong crossover move opening up a grand canyon size hole.

Yo are thinking of Hagg. His passing is awful by NHL standards

I would say Provorov struggles at times clearing the puck on PK but yea, his passes are pretty good.

What exactly was he trying to do, my guess is be a showboat but why is your stick not on the ice to move the puck forward?

Honestly I just think he missed it. I really don't think he was trying to showboat, they definitely know they don't have a win in the shootout. I'm sure they aren't happy with that.

Top contending teams who are in "win now" mode could likely offer a better package for rentals like Pageau/Duclair that they Flyers should be willing to trade.

If they're sellers, I'd be willing to give up more for Virtanen from Vancouver. He's an upcoming RFA and seems to have finally remembered how to play hockey.

- jmatchett383

The pageau rumour intrigues me. I would love to have him, but if they are shopping him, it's going to be a bidding war that we'd have to give up major assets to win. I am not sure what Chuck has planned. If he is under order to go for it this year, I would be surprised because even with Pageau, winning one round is likely the ceiling. We have to assume that Patrick is done for the year and we know Lindblom is. This severely limits our ability to know what we have as a team moving forward, and for that reason, I'd be conservative at the deadline.
- Hextall271

I think the point I’m trying to make is, the players we should want to keep is obvious. The young ones who are playing well. Everyone else is becoming past their primes or simply aren’t good and nobody in the league should want them. So I think our hands are tied either way. Patrick and Lindblom’s situation is just bad luck and they’re both players we should want to keep even if they could play.

Wow really? i dont know if I could disagree with this more. I think Provy with the puck on his stick is a very competent if not really good player when skating. he seems to be adept at gaining the zone and making the correct play, whether that be wind it in deep, shoot , or hold for reinforcements. additionally, once he is done, you almost never see him get caught either. in my opinion we need more of him skating the puck up ice.

Yeah they didn't play great by any means, but the bottom line is they got two points. Watching Marchand whiff last night was incredible. He's a great player, but he's such an unlikable POS.
- PLindbergh31

That last line nails Marchand 100%

I can think of maybe 3 people I wouldn't trade him for on this team, Coots or Hart or Provorov. Possibly TK as I think he can be a poor mans Marchand.

Beyond that I hate because of how unlikable he is bad damn he would add a skill level this team is missing in some ways.

I dont think there's any way Patrick plays this season. What worries me is, if in the next few weeks the flyers position themselves for a real run in the playoffs, and Patrick would be needed, but still doesnt come back. That shows that these issues haven't gone away and it honestly worries me will they ever? Do these types of neurological issues linger to the point that it's career threatening? I was so pumped to see this kid play this year, it's such a shame.

If there are no penalties in the shootout, what if you slowly slide the puck towards the goalie with enough momentum to get into the net, then race to the goalie, pull him out of the net and beat the ever-loving poop out of him? Would that work?
