I'm not a huge fan of the current format either, but damn, the league is going to get criticized no matter what it does.

When it was #1 against #16, people felt that it gave an unfair advantage to teams that didn't have to travel.

When it was division only, travel was also a concern (the Rangers never had to board a plane) and of course the Patrick had one extra team.

When it was #1 vs #8 in conference, it wasn't fair because you played teams in your division more, so if you had a weak division it gave you an unfair advantage.

And I had completely forgotten when the league had 6 divisions.

No matter what the league does, fans will complain.

Roger appreciate your confidence, but you are delusional with your expectations of the Leafs currently. The New Jersey team that the Leafs beat 7-4 yesterday is a sad excuse for a team. Allowing more than 12 shots by such a sorry-ass team is a failure. The Leafs would have difficulty beating the 1974-75 Washington Capitals the way they have played lately. Stating they will crush the Bruins is ridiculous. If they make the playoffs and face the Bruins we can hope they will find a way to win, to say it is matter of fact is bullcheese.

There is no way some of the top teams in the league should play eachother in the first and second rounds of the playoffs, that just shouldnt happen.

1-8 seeding makes the most sense. You have the teams with the most points play the teams with the least points. That has always made sense, its not perfect, but it makes sense. This division play is garbage, and quite frankly boring, and waters down the later rounds of the playoffs.

People wonder how the Sens got so far that year to the ECF and sucked after, its because of the watered down divisional seeding.

I agree that 1v8 makes the most sense, but I still really like 1v16 with reseeding each round (I know the travel is an issue, and I get it). I like the idea that the two best teams can meet in the SCF from anywhere in the league.

I guess the idea that you could have a Toronto/Montreal SCF, or an Edmonton/Calgary is still something that's sort of cool.

At the least, the forced matchups by division is a terrible idea, I think, that should be dropped.

Agree - Marincin actually looked good, thats how bad NJ is! Don't care who NJ beat they are pure shyte. The last half of the third was awful, I remember playing badly in the last half of a couple of third periods against the Bruins - it did not end well.

Uh, why is Gallant fired? It better to for some behaviour issues because his success with an expansion team is without equal.
