I love snow days

It was fun driving earlier . Watching the people from warmer countries drive today made me laugh ( yes this is racist )

- VANTEL

the lack of winter tires is also a problem, but I can't blame most people since it's usually only 2-3 inches max of snow in Vancouver for like a week or 2 out of the year.

kind of embarrassing that this is all it took for the city to basically shutdown lol, Vancouver is definitely not "Canadian"
- Nucker101

I've lived in a few different cities across the country. The snow is different out here. It ices up under the snow rather quickly. They sand, de-ice, and plow the roads elsewhere for months to prevent this. Not here because it's only here for a couple of weeks. No shame in taking a couple of days off if you can to be safe.

People in southern BC are pathetic at driving the majority of the time. When it snows holy (frank)

I am not sure winter tires will stop semis from trying to make a U Turn on Broadway and Oak

Granville street bridge. Buses stuck everywhere. Transit has bumper trucks bumping the buses until they are able to go anther two blocks before getting stuck.

- VANTEL

Just get the climate change 'activists' to shovel the streets there while they're out looking for jobs...

Oh wait...they don't need jobs...

I'm going to start keeping a tally of how many days in a row you bring up: politics, millenials, climate change

It feels like we're already at a streak of a week or 2

Especially after watching all the animosity that has developed between the two teams over the last couple of seasons.

Wonder if he told Poile to go Feck himself. Usually judgement is swift in sports when egos clash with upper management.

With the job gallant has done it has to be a clash with management....and we've seen that before
At least this time he wasn't left at the side of the road with his suitcase

But why would they make themselves look bad to protect Gallant if something did happen off the ice? They could've done what Dallas did and just say it wasn't performance related and left it at that, then their fans would be more understanding.
- Nucker101

They aren't protecting Gallant. They fired him, they are protecting the organization.

Doing it this way is to prevent the press from digging deeper and shift the focus back to the team immediately. Saying it's performance related kinda ends the story. Eliminating some of the press looking for reasons of cause and effect and then sensationalizing it.

Everybody was wondering what Montgomery did weeks after the fact. Until he came out himself. Gallant is old school and will move on.

fair enough, I think performance based really just hurt their relationship/rope with their fanbase now and their perception around the league. They better hope DeBoer is as good or better because they've really stuck their necks out here for him.

Extremely strange move for Vegas. It may be similar to the Florida situation where it was a rift with management.
- SMBDragon

They haven’t won much in ten or so games. The west is too tight. Gallant had them punching above their weight imo, but deboers is a great coach too.

yeah, I don't blame the city for being unprepared, it doesn't make sense to invest that kind of time and money for weather that we only get for 5-10 days a year.

yeah but in Florida it was a case of Tallon(the man who hired him) being forced to take a backseat in management and some analytical dudes taking over. They probably didn't see eye to eye with an old school dude like Gallant so that relationship was doomed to begin with.

This one is bizarre because the management group firing him is the same group that hired him and almost won a cup with him after shocking the world.

I agree, good point. Especially hiring from a rival in American sports. He'll be under the microscope from day one.

That's just straight up bullsh!t. He bought it hook line and sinker...then printed it for Poile.
- Load Management

All kinds of possible reasons why
Maybe he's 1 of those abusive coaches teams have been getting rid of. Doubt it though
Maybe he tried moving in on mcphees daughter
Maybe he has a bad drinking problem
Maybe he tried to blow the bus driver like the Ottawa coach did
Sounds like something far more serious than simple arguments, teams seem to want to distance themselves from him pretty fast

Good. Hope Vegas falls into shambles. I don’t think I could take them winning a cup before Vancouver.
