A competent coach would be a big help.

This is a bit of a dissenting position but I think Stan has done ok with the roster in the past 14 months or so.

Recent acquisitions (since Nov. 2018) that I don' t mind:
- Lehner
- Kubalik
- de Haan
- Maata
- Caguilia
- Strome
- Boqvist
- Dach
- Smith (but I'd consider a buy out after this season if they need some extra cap space)
- Carpenter
- Highmore (call up)
- Shaw

- Koekoek

Injuries have been a problem. An inexperienced HC hasn't helped. But I do think the roster is improved over a year ago. More is needed, especially since de Haan, Seabrook and Shaw all are on LTIR and DeBrincat & Strome (IR) haven't had the same magic as last year.

All of that is to say I do think the Blackhawks need a more experienced coach but I'm guessing that Stan gets to hire him and stays around a while longer.

He keeps playing the body instead of the puck i don't have a problem with him, when he plays the puck yikes

Koekkoek odds of continuing to play this well remainder of season?

Toronto GM finally trades one of his big stars or else a young promising guy (they have a couple stuck behind the stars) for defensive help.....the odds on that after the season? Not really expecting to "turn a new leaf" at trade deadline? That is correct, "turn" on the all offensive approach.

They do have a couple of dmen prospects but it is a change among the way forwards play and a message sent by moving one of them. The GM and coach have to publicly come out and say there is going to be better effort, defensively or more players will be changing addresses.

this leaf team is super dangerous offensively but they have their problems defensively...very poor with their gaps and loose and lazy with their skating

I will say, Highmore is solid in his own zone. Kid’s gonna have a career by playing smart, responsible hockey.

I believe he would have been up last year if not for the injury. He definitely can find a career and 4th line/PK guy. He even has some offensive skills. At least did at the AHL level. I really want He and Kampf to form the start of a 4th line.

I honestly don't know, but for the hell of it i don't believe Koekkoek is part of the Hawks future and all of a sudden he's in the lineup every night before the trade dead line, not a coincidence to me
