Paul-
I'm sure you remember (or have tried to forget) that the Dusters used Jim Croce's "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown". If I remember correctly, it was also played on the organ.

I can't think of a single professional song associated with a hockey team but I cannot forget this one lol

As a kid my Dad took me to a few Oakland/California Golden Seals games and the organist always played "California Here I Come" when the Seals skated out before the game.

in college, my buddies and I spent many a Saturday night at the old Spokane Coliseum watching the Spokane Flyers WIHL team (Western International Hockey League- very minor league), who skated out to the theme from "Rocky". Not sure if it was the smashmouth hockey, or the beer, but those games were never a disappointment.

But i think my one regret in life- as a hockey fan, anyway- was never making it to Chicago Stadium to hear the National Anthem with that big pipe organ and Wayne Messmer at the mic... cool on TV, it must've been goose-bump awesome in real life

I'm from Chicago and attended just about every game for over four decades. The old Stadium was a solid masonry structure. And the balconies would shake when the anthem was being sung and then Messmer could barely be heard in the middle of the song.

People have different memories of when the cheering started. Mine was when the Canadian embassy helped rescue some hostages from the Iran hostage situation. The Hawks were playing a Canadian team right after that happened and as the Canadian anthem was being played the crowd went off cheering wildly during it. And then when they played the American anthem they really went wild and to this day it continues.

The newer United Center is four times the volume of the old building, and that's not counting the new building to the east and the atrium between the two. And it gets loud, but compared to the Stadium it's just a more user friendly shopping mall that has a game going on in the middle. Moving forward there will never be anything like the old Stadium ever again.

"Remember the Roar" was the saying when they shut down the old place. And that's no poop.

Elvis' "A Little Less Conversation". It was the pregame song for the Flyers the year I had a 10 game plan. Whenever I hear it, I still see the teams roaring onto the ice for the pregame.
