It looks like Perlini about got a portion of his nose cut into and stitched back up, fortunate for him there have been a lot worse incidents and he didn't get seriously injured. I'm glad to see it seems to be cosmetic and didn't take a skate to the eye or the neck area.

That was terrifying. Very lucky indeed. Thanks for that, I’m embedding underneath the original tweet

I've never been as down on Helm as some other Wings fans here.

Is he overpaid? Yes, absolutely. If that was the going rate to re-sign him the Wings should have let some other team pay it.

But if you take money out of the equation IMO he's still a perfectly serviceable bottom six NHL forward. Age is certainly catching up with him in terms of his offensive production (team strength probably has something to do with it too ...) but from what I can tell his defense and transition game still seem relatively dependable.

This is in sharp contrast to, say, Nielsen, Ericsson, and Daley, who all belong in the AHL, and Abdelkader, who belongs on a milk carton. Helm can actually still hack it in the bigs, at least to some degree.

Helm has always been a great complementary player too. The year he spent significant time on a line with Tatar and Datsyuk he did very well.

Meanwhile Justin Abdelkader has scored precisely 1 goal in his last 82 NHL games played. That's 1 goal in 1,465 minutes of ice time, spread across 1,085 shifts.

But who's counting, amirite?

Holland signed Abdelkader to that 7 year contract extension and said "power forwards are rare in this league and when you have one you need to lock him up."

Helm and Glenny are both at least “visible” every night. They work hard and make plays. Colorado lost Kadri for a bit. Either of those two could be a good depth pickup. Well stated

Helm is shockingly strong. I remember he blew out most everyone at camp in pull-ups and a few other things. He never stops working.

I remember even Milbury saying, “ok, the money is fine but the term is going to bite them”. That’s when you know there’s a problem

That's hilarious coming from Milbury. He's right. But Alexei Yashin and Rick DiPietro have $hit eating grins on their faces.

Oh yeah. The borderline called certain buyout policies “DiPietro rules”. Some insanity for sure

Matthews (40), Ovechkin (40) and Pastrnak (41) combined are outscoring the Red Wings 121-120.

Ya, but are they good guys in the room...
Apparently that’s more important than scoring goals or winning games. At least with the old regime

Stevie would love a first rounder for sure. That would probably go through

Yes please. Then we flip 50% retained Haula for a 2nd.

That's what I was thinking too.
