Randall Ritchey: Reminder, Hockey Is Just A Game I love hockey just as much as the next guy, but it's times like this that remind us that hockey is just a game.

Not at all intended to be picky but I assume it was thirty seconds not thirty minutes? Nice article and a huge shout out to the medical staff and first responders.

Indeed. I have corrected a few errors including this one. Thank God for the medical professionals on hand, as they more than likely saved his life.

Relieved to hear he is ok. Those legs of his have a lot of minutes. I remember him playing as an under-ager at the world juniors. Sometimes your body sends you a clear warning. Maybe its time for him to sit down with his family and make a wise decision.

Randall, not sure if you were watching or not but it was so disturbing seeing someone feverishly performing manual CPR on him. Thank god they did but wow.

I'm glad he is doing good.

Must likely he had vfib. We can't shock a heart back to beating. An AED means his heart was beating incorrectly. There are a variety of things that can cause this.

I want to take a second and tell you all to look into how much paramedics, emts, firefighters and cops make and how important they are when you need them. In most places you can make nearly the same amount of money working fast food.

We pay atheletes millions of dollars to entertain us but they aren't risking their lives to save lives. Yet those who do we pay very little comparatively.

This episode demonstrates how are priorities are messed up.

Again I hope JayBo's recovering and his health gets sorted out positively.

They did. If his heart wasn't reset or he was not getting diffusion he would have not made. AEDs are important and with little to no training anyone can use them.

Excellent portrayal of real life vs hockey. Thank you Randall for a reminder that as much as we love this game, family and real life come first. Hoping for the big guy to have a speedy recovery and no long term issues to deal with.

Great write-up. Thanks for putting into words what we are all feeling.

And thanks for not forgetting Luc Bourdon. We never do in Van City.

Jets fan here, really hope JayBo is gonna be okay, what a scary incident to have happen.

Well put together piece and really nice of the writer to mention a lot of guys lost too early.
