I thought Tocchet's post game comments were quite hilariously whiny. A little bit of sour grapes there.

As a Leafs fan I can say that it rarely seems that Toronto gets the benefit of a goaltending interference review call. Someone posted that they are something like 7-22 since this came out.

Have Kessel and Hall played much together at 5 on 5?

The Leafs - if healthy- have the NHL's best roster

Stop, just stop.

Leafs are an above average team, but not in the same class as the actual contenders (TB, BOS, WAS, STL, etc)

ABSOLUTELY 100% correct.
Dang, even the last 4 games shows how uninspiring the Leafs are.
average Rangers....
Dead Ducks (on a back to back)
HaplessHabs
average Coyotes (back to back...3rd string goalie)

Yes, leafs got 5 of 8 points. Start the parade. But....wait....

Did they really play these 4 teams, a couple on the 2nd of back-to-backs....and still went 0 for 4 in regulation wins???. That's right. They didn't win even ONE of those games in 60 minutes.

A seven game series against the Bruins???...Blues???...Caps???...Tampa???...Pens???....I wouldn't take the Leafs against any of them.

A GREAT offensive team....when they are clicking. But, as far as top teams in the NHL go. Nah. Maybe 6th...7th....in that neighborhood.

Just to point out, if Leafs had a competent backup they'd be right with those teams in the standings. The difference is backups. We are already seeing a big bump from the Campbell trade. 5 points out of a possibel 6.

I am always amazed at how horrible the Leafs are perceived as. They have the 4th best record with Keefe as coach in the NHL with very bad goaltending and tons of injuries, including having their 2 top Ds out for an extended period.

If this team gets healthy watch out.

Despite how annoying you phrased it, I will address this.

The idea that St Louis is this great team is ridiculous. They were the last place team in the NHL and they got insane goaltending from a random dude, and won the Cup.

This year they have 2 more wins than the Leafs, but the Leafs have been without one player for virtually every game, sometimes as many as four.

The Leafs also have had to change coaches, and are playing at a pace that would put them second overall last season since they hired their new coach.

As Boston, they have one good line and are getting the best save % in the NHL.

None of these teams have as many first line players as the Leafs, and on none of these teams is Nylander the fourth best forward.

The Leafs also have three top pairing defenseman, which is more than most of these teams have.

To sum up:
The Leafs are the 4th best team in the NHL since Keefe took over, despite all the injuries, and have the most elite players and the deepest roster.

They also have Matthews/Tavares down the middle, something no team can match.

The Leafs really are the NHL's best team.

Hi James,
I disagree. Campbell made the initial contact and the Yotes player was outside of the paint and only inside after the puck is in. It was a Toronto Home job plain and simple.
The goal should have counted and I should have gotten my fantasy points.

Exactly, it's because the Leafs are the centre of the NHL so their fans have this weird thing they do where they just perpetually crap on the team and even if it's good, they're afraid of looking like "those fans" so they say the team is much worse than it is.

Or they're just idiots and the internet gives them a voice, who can tell?

But clearly a team in the top five of all team stats that is the 5th best team over half a season despite injuries and the 25th best goaltending is a contender.

Dude, it wasn't even a controversial call back. This isn't even the kind of thing were there should be any debate. It was one of the easiest calls ever made, there wasn't even a tiny bit of doubt.

A super star player is worth maybe four or five wins over the season. Everyone forgest Hutchinson did win four games in a row at one point, and that he was played in difficult situations before that.

Realistically if the leafs have Campbell all season it's generous to say he'd be worth three more points in the standings.

I would actually Andersen has been a bigger problem than the back up goalie and cost the team more points.

Crosby/Malkin, McDavid/Draisaitl come to mind.

But yes, Matthews/Tavares is an excellent 1/2 punch.

Edmonton has so little depth it matters very little. Not sure they can make the playoffs even in a laughably bad division

I agree. If there's 1 Leaf that I view as "Overrated" it's easily Andersen. He's an Ok starter, who cab be the best when he's hot, but suffers from 2-3 brutally long cold stretches every season. He also has not been good in the playoffs.

Even it that is the case, both duos I mentioned currently occupy a playoff spot.

What's more, the Oilers "lack of depth" has been producing offence for better than a month now. The team is clicking and scoring, not just McDavid and Draisaitl.

Not even speaking about the rest of this post, but as to the bolded:
WASH: Ovi, Backstrom, Kuznetsov
TAMPA: Stamkos, Point, Kucherov
BOS: Bergeron, Pasternak, Marchand (ooh, it hurts to type that)

Nylander is not superior to any of these players and therefore would be at least the fourth best forward on any of those teams. And that is just off the top of my head.

Not refuting that. But, he is not currently a team-driving Superstar, either.
I haven't watched as much of the Leafs as usual in the last 3-4 weeks, but the NYR game, in particular, he was invisible. Last year in the playoffs, he played scared. Always curled back with the puck and wouldn't go near the tough areas.
I'm not saying that analysis still describes him fully, but he is not a superstar.

Blaming Andersen, haha.

You were too busy playing poker to notice the Leafs give up a 5 on 2 last night?

Odd man rushes are a common theme for this greatest team ever assembled, regardless of what some fan boys seem to suggest.

We have a good team, a little immature to call them the best.

I am not in agreement that the Leafs are one of the best teams in the league.

Add some context here though. First 3 of those 4 games were in 4 nights, with a back to back on Friday and Saturday. Allegedly the flu is running through the dressing room of the Leafs right now, I'm certain that has had some affect.

Also, the Leafs starting goaltender is injured.

Again, not saying that the Leafs are the best team in the league, but given the above to me any win is a positive, especially when they are fighting for a playoff spot in a league with so much parity that any team can beat any other team on any given day.

Not really, you're just ignoring facts that don't fit your pre conceived ideas, so it's not worth even talking to you. You'll just go on being wrong, and I won't be effected either way.
