I never understood wind. You know, I know windmills very much. I’ve studied it better than anybody. I know it’s very expensive. They’re made in China and Germany mostly — very few made here, almost none. But they’re manufactured tremendous — if you’re into this — tremendous fumes. Gases are spewing into the atmosphere. You know we have a world, right? So the world is tiny compared to the universe. So tremendous, tremendous amount of fumes and everything. You talk about the carbon footprint — fumes are spewing into the air. Right? Spewing. Whether it’s in China, Germany, it’s going into the air. It’s our air, their air, everything — right? So they make these things and then they put them up.

36 - really a 20+ 1st round pick for risto?

Wow, it's a message board, why not dream?

He's half of the projected 95 point duo though? With monti?

Zucker got a 1st, and gally and a good prospect.

- Boss34

And what do you think Risto is getting you, please tell me. I would like to hear this.

Botts isn’t moving risto. I’m sure he’s gotten a ton of offers good or bad and he’s said no to all of them

So why would he move him now?

- Sabretooth9

Well 1 is getting moved between him or Montour. Everybody wants Botts to make moves. What do people really think we are gonna get for these guys.

I would hope a legitimate 2nd line player. Probably rw?

Late 1st and 4th and danny o = ek9 on expiring deal
Late 1st round picks = lehner
Late 1st round pick and guhle = montour

Now were giving away risto , a potential 50 point defenseman (yesterday) for a late 1st.

Picks wont be here for 3 or 4 years.

Risto is the type of guy you'll see for 8- 10 more years in the nhl. A 25th pick not likely

It’s fine. He’s building through the draft I guess. Fans are gonna have to be patient cuz it may take a long time for any of them to pan out.

Greg Wyshinski (sp) was on WGR today and basically said what a lot of us have said.

Next year is the make or break for this management group.

He said they had to rebuild a rebuild and what’s holding us back is Mittelstadt not developing as hoped.

I think hiring another GM is a potentially horrible idea and we’d be looking at another rebuild of a rebuild of a rebuild.

Botterill will know his job is on the line and will have to make the playoffs or get fired (or not extended).

Personally, I don’t want another GM coming in, thinking he has just the right coach to fix Ristolainen, wasn’t a fan of Cozens so he just trades him in a deal for an average top 6 center etc.

It can get worse

JB is not going to trade Montour. Because the cost to acquire Miller was less, it's possible that he's moved for futures to recoup the cost at least in part. It'll be between Risto and Miller imo. I'm sure he'd rather trade Risto than Miller, but he's in the same tough spot he put himself 12 months ago, so we'll see.

Realistically my deadline expectation is this:

Larry for a 4th and some lousy prospect
Vesey for a 4th
Bogo with half retained for a 5th

Not so much. Wysh said that if they make a change, the next GM would have two foundational pieces and cap space to maneuver. It's kind of a perfect moment

He said he wouldn’t fire him.

I’m saying it could be disastrous. Especially if it’s another half ass job by the Pegula’s

This makes it sound like Botterill in no way could be fired within the next several years; otherwise it’d be a “rebuild of a rebuild of a rebuild”.
So he’s under absolutely no pressure at all. There is no “make or break” for JB. If he misses next year, what are they gonna do? Fire him? Then bring in someone else and rebuild again? Blame will be placed solely on his predecessor and players “not performing to their averages”.

Remember when we were picking 11th with st Louis's pick. #goodtimes

Montour cost a 1st and a B prospect
Risto you are moving for a 1st?

You value montour more?

I don’t think so.

Next year Botts draft picks like Mitts, Bryson, UPL, overseas FA’s like Ruostolainen and Pilut need to show some return on investment. Not all at the NHL level but we need a clearer picture on what they will be.

He also needs to make the playoffs. Period. End of story. And I think he and ownership are pretty aware of that
