Botts probably doesn’t even know. It’s a situation where trades are complex and could take up to 14 months. We just aren’t sure if discussions we had 3 years ago will come to fruition. There just may not be a trade there but it is something we will revisit in the offseason.

My thought if I were Botts:
Trade an asset to secure a player that would provide help longer-term...not so much now.
Kinda like the Kane trade.

Josh Anderson would be my target. Has had an injury plagued season, and remains on injured reserve as we speak. Has a whopping 4 points this season in 26 games, but last 2 seasons produces at a 0.5 ppg pace. He would be fabulous at 3LW and could play 2RW as well. Adds grit and power forward skill set.

CBJ has a ton of Cap Space, has needs at forward and D now with Jones on IR could they make Vesey and Miller work?

He's finalizing a deal to acquire Kessel from Pittsburgh as we speak. Sounds like Sobotka, Nylander and Guhle going back to Pittsburgh in the deal.

That's an interesting thought, I would love JA on this team, bring some toughness and scoring. I was looking at McCabe for Bennett, cap hits are almost identical and if Bennett doesn't work out, he only has 1yr left. Wouldn't hinder the cap for Dahlin. And might be a cheaper option then Girgs.

And Bennett was drafted as a center, maybe toss him at 2c for the rest of the season and see if he has anything for that spot. Could it hurt? Worse case he goes to a bottom 6 wing.

Seems like the Caps trade for a dman every TDL. I could see them liking a guy like McCabe based on previous trades. Perhaps we could get the Avs 2nd or AZs 3rd for him. Or maybe one of their center prospects since they are pretty set long term at the position.

They have to take salary back as buffalo isn’t in a position to take on salary.

I highly doubt they’d take Risto as that would give them 4 highly paid defensemen. 3 of which are on the backsides of their careers and signed very long term.

Again they need forward help more than defensive help. They already have $26.5 mil tied up in Karlsson, Burns, and Pickle. Adding Risto at 5.4 or Montour at 5-6 isn’t an ideal situation as that eats up damn near 40% of the cap.

Understand that but they look to be trading Dillon and Timo makes 6 mill, that's almost 10 mill.
