IMO they would be making a grave mistake taking on another high end defensive contract.

Also as previously stated Buffalo can not take on salary without shedding salary 1st. A deal involving a 2020 1st (top three protected*), a 2021 2nd, and Mitts(other pieces could be added) might get the ball rolling. Again might.

*2020 1st turns into 2021 1st and 2021 2nd turns into 2020 2nd if the Sabres draft in the top 3 in 2020. Something along those lines.

I like McCabe + for Bennett and Kylington.

I really feel a change of scenery for Bennett would do him good plus he plays with some snarl. Which this team also lacks. He has the talent(just needs to unlock it) and I’d try him at #2c for the remainder of the year. I mean it couldn’t hurt, everyone else has been thrown in there.

That's an interesting thought, I would love JA on this team, bring some toughness and scoring. I was looking at McCabe for Bennett, cap hits are almost identical and if Bennett doesn't work out, he only has 1yr left. Wouldn't hinder the cap for Dahlin. And might be a cheaper option then Girgs.

Trade an asset to secure a player that would provide help longer-term...not so much now.
Kinda like the Kane trade.

Josh Anderson would be my target. Has had an injury plagued season, and remains on injured reserve as we speak. Has a whopping 4 points this season in 26 games, but last 2 seasons produces at a 0.5 ppg pace. He would be fabulous at 3LW and could play 2RW as well. Adds grit and power forward skill set.

CBJ has a ton of Cap Space, has needs at forward and D now with Jones on IR could they make Vesey and Miller work?

Ruotsalinen is having a nice season in the Liiga this year. He is averaging 1.02 PPG this year. In retrospect Jesse puljujarvi has 0.98 PPG
