What's the general feel around here of going to games Late in the season to see eichel chase 40/100
Sitting at 39/99 vs. Flyers , last game of the season?
Kinda making history here. 1st 100 point player in 26 years for the Sabres.
I'm pretty excited , just wondering the general feel? - Boss34
It’s cool
But not enough that I’d care to pay any significant amount of $$$ to see it live over watching it on tv

Seriously?
That’s horrific
Botts should be fired if doing that deal
We easily give up the 2 most valuable pieces,
both with high upside - jdfitz77
You are also giving up the worst piece in Okposo. What if the Sabres go on a run and end up drafting 12-15 and Pittsburgh loses in the first round again and picks at 21 again?
What would you be willing to give up to get rid of Okposo? |
|
|
|
Definitely
Although mitts is hitting nylander type criticism, I still feel like he can turn the corner.
Good trade - see yah - Boss34
I agree with this. Mitt isn’t in busy territory yet. He still has the build of a kid. (Same with dahlin) |

Nothing like what you’re talking about
His $6mil contract sucks,
but it’s not killing us either
Using that pick in a deep draft means MUCH more to our future success than getting rid of Okposo |

21 y/o, 19 y/o, 21 y/o (yet to play in North America) 22 y/o (also hasn't played in NA yet and went undrafted)
Relying on these guys as a 2C and 3C would be very optimistic. I would question the GM if he did rely on these guys to fill both those spots.
What's the average age of 2Cs and 3Cs in the league? I am sure it's older than 21. - adambuffalo
pick 7 overall last year
pick 8 overall 3 years ago
pick 37 overall 3 years ago
22 year old highly touted free agent from overseas
if those 4 can't produce long term as your 2nd and 3rd line center, you have serious issues with your GM |

he was drafted as a generational center
that's really not saying much
it's year 5 and he should have clipped the 100 point mark by the end of this season
and if he gets dinged up for 3 or 4 games, he may not hit the mark
he is on pace for 104 points, not a lock with this team |

If you consider it opening up another spot to protect a player in the expansion draft, I think it has more value to trade him than just his salary.
Also, if we can get a couple picks at the TDL and still have a 1st from Pitts in the trade I proposed, we could try to trade up. |

The wasn't the question really?
I think he gets 100, I'm pretty enamored with the feat.
Enough that it would be fun to road game it, depending on location and points at the time |

With the lack of talent, terrible overall management, and his serious injuries, that would have been a difficult feat.
1st year - 18 year old
2nd year - missed 20 games
3rd year - missed 20 games
4th year - missed 5 games and had 80 +
5th year - currently on pace

Interesting 👍 - Boss34
The atmosphere kinda blows at games when we aren’t good
When they start a let’s go buffalo chant,
I feel awkward if I’m screaming it out with any kind of conviction bc no one else around me is making much noise
Frankly, it’s more fun to watch the game in a bar
There’s ppl there actually cheering & being loud
*and not booing, which i think is ridiculous btw
I still like going to games
But it’s not something i have to do
I’ve paid for 1 game this year
Gone to 10 for free
Twice in a suite, 7x in 100s, 2x in 300s
If the crowd was into it like they are at a Bills game, then I’d want to be there MUCH more |

No one said that they couldn't produce long term, just looking at next season.
Still need to find a 2C/3C for next year and let the Swedes transition in the AHL, hopefully have Mitts fill one of the spots and let Cozens transition into the league on the wing. |

How’s the expansion draft play in?
And what are we giving up to move up?
Sorry dude
I generally like your posts
But giving up prime assets to get rid of the 1 bad contract we’ll have after this season is a terrible idea
Whoever gets the best piece generally wins the trade
And u want us to give up the TWO best pieces
No way imo
U wanna give up that top10 pick,
then it better be for Logan Couture (or better)
Not to get rid of Okposo |

I am more impressed with his work on D and hustling back this season, then if he goes from a ppg player to a 1.20 ppg player
not only is he the team MVP, but the most improved sabre
he turned the corner and is an elite center this season, complete 200 foot player |

No, not at all.
Do both, they need all the help they can get at RW too.
Why create another hole to fill.
RW has fewer performers than LW, why on earth would you deal a top 10/12 performer at the position.
Bad asset management.
Stop digging. - IonSabres
No, bad asset management is going to be when we deal out a majority of our cap space to wingers and still don’t have an answer at 2C, goaltender, and top 4 LHD.
Just watch Ion, look at the transaction list. Tell me how many wingers in the past 2 years, along with the ones that will be dealt at the deadline this year or signed in UFA, that wouldn’t be able to put up 65 points on Eichel’s wing.
I’m a huge fan of Cozens, but if he ends up being a winger at the next level then what ? Are we going to just hope he is a 2C as soon as next year or are we ok with throwing away another season ?
I appreciate the effort and thought process behind a lot of your posts sir. I see the budgeting and cost benefit analysis that you post frequently, but if you have horses down the middle and strength on the back end you can interchange wingers over time.

Again, it was fun in the beginning.
Older I get, the more I perfer Sabres games over Bill's.
Bill's have a great home schedule this year.

sign Soderberg, Brassard or Craig Smith on a 1 year deal, as a stop gap if needed for the third line
if everything is fine, bury that guy on the 4th line with the other scrubs
I think the biggest need is RW, and a LD
ship out mccabe and johansson at the draft, if not before and target those two slots |

If we took Draisatil he would have hit 80 in year two, ROR would still be here, Babs might have been behind the bench and Stammer might be wearing the C right now. |
