See, this where I'm getting too old. Even at a metal concert, I'd prefer to sit and enjoy, then get physical in the pit. Slipknot it's one of the bands on my bucket list, though. Them, Ghost, Stone Sour, and Apocalytica.

The pit at the Mudvayne show following LD 50 was savage

Meshuggah is amazing live. Saw them open for SOAD. That was an epic show. My favorite SOAD show was in a smaller venue, and Mindless Self Indulgence opened... That was intense.

These guys are the real (frank)ing deal!! The show they put on was absolutely stunning! They crushed it.....along with everyone's faces!

Thomas Haake on drums is worth the price of admission alone.

Have you ever seen (or heard of) Opeth (my avatar)? Seen them 5-6 times....incredibly dynamic and progressive.

In an interesting lineup, I saw Taproot, Incubus, and Deftones at the ACC. Things were calm until Deftones came on. Then the crowd pretty much crushed security and turned the entire floor into a giant pit. Chino blew out his vocal cords at that show...

I really enjoy Opeth. Haven't seen them live, but I would for sure. These days I'm far more selective in my concerts, though. So (frank)ing pricey these days

Meshuggah is...an acquired taste. They're so complex it sounds almost disjointed, especially if you see them live before you really listen to them. They're different for sure. But worth checking out.

You and me both. I've been to hundreds of shows and now i'm pin-pointing bands that I've never seen, will never get to see again, my favorites etc.

Where I've always usually lived, there's always a fair amount of travel incorporated as well so that drives the stupid cost up even more.

This.

And just listen to the drummer....his legs follow the guitar while his arms are playing accent snare and symbol beats. He's a poly-rhythmic wet dream!!

And the guitarists use 8 string Ibanez guitars made from a mixture of African woods. Great tone.

I have 2 7 string guitars.....can't wait to get the 8!!
