Well then, that would be the worst transaction in the history of the club, yes worse than trading Neely.

And you ridicule Benning,

Wilson totally misjudged his team this year, luckily they have an absentee owner or he’d have been canned by now, they’re a mess which some really bad contracts.
- Pacificgem

I feel bad for players that out perform contracts they sign but giving Vlasic 7 million a season.

You can't pay that much for defence.

I think Van should trade for Mike Matheson

Stecher and Roussel. Throw in Utunen and Palmu.

It’s a mess, that Karlsson contract on top of the Burns and Vlasic contracts was just lunacy. All the forward contracts aren’t terrible but they fell off the competitive cliff quickly.

North Van's Martin Jones might be the reason. Once again, it's a Canucks fault...

I wouldn’t trade Boeser for anyone right now, I was just messing with Makita. But I would see what they’d want to acquire Evander Kane right now. SJ didn’t really break the bank to get him from Buffalo, a late first (29th) and a fourth rounder, which Buffalo flipped to Vancouver, along with Daniel O'Regan who’s a 26 year old journeyman center.

If he was available, it would start with a first +++. Which we don't have.

Guessing that Pavelski was keeping that team in line. Now you have Kane and Karlsson who have not been the best apples running the team.

You can only have so many horrible not defensive defencemen on a team. They have two of the worst.

Trading for all the players and having a poopty prospect pool certainly didn't help.

Thank goodness Benning is a genius. Van won't have these problems with him at the helm.

26.5 million a year for the next five seasons and two of those three guys are old, Burns is just turning 35, Vlasic 33, Karlsson 28.

I am one of the few that think Benning actually does know what he is doing. I think him stepping in and telling Aquilini to go after Miller and screw the first round pick ( See ya Trevor) sped things up beyond expectations.

Canucks are tied for 6 th in scoring Comets are second.

Why would you though? Those assets thanks to the genius Jim Benning is probably two 50 point forwards vs one 50 point forward who spends too much time in the penalty box or suspended.

I think you’ll see a much different SJ team next season, Wilson isn’t afraid to make deals, wouldn’t be surprised to see Karlsson or Burns traded and I don’t think you’ll see big Joe or Marleau back.

If it's seniority, why is Beagle coming out?

And why the hell are we propping up Schaller? Sit him or trade him.

- NewYorkNuck

lol team is 32-21-5 with a healthy Beagle and he's the issue on the 4th line?

I still wanna trade him, he’ll want term, something Benning should stay clear of. He’s propping up a mediocre team, like Miller and Lack did in 2015, trade him at the TDL or at the draft.
- Pacificgem

I still have hope you'll come around. Just curious though, if he's not traded at the TDL, which would kill this season, why do you think anyone would trade for him around the draft? He's not going to sign just to be flipped, nor is anybody going to want to spend for him if he's hitting the open market.

Fair enough, just if they want to be competitive right now it could make sense but if they’re playing the long game, which I’m not sure Francesco Aquilini wants anymore of, it doesn’t make sense at all. Draft and develop.

What does he have to sell? I wouldn't take Karlsson Burns Vlasic and probably not Kane at this stage. A lot of top teams don't have the cap space. AVs might be interested in Kane but that's it.

I don't expect them to trade their young stars.

I have always thought Benning knew what he was doing. He has taken wrong steps here and there. That's being a GM though. If they all got it right all the time, there wouldn't be the carousel of changes.

I don't want to pretend like someone is calling the shots on drafting or development or acquisitions over another.

It's a team of people bringing their work together and Jim makes the final decisions based on what they tell him and what he see's.

One thing I do know is that it is now Jim's team of people. He's hired most or promoted. Hard to argue with the success the team is having right now.

Sure as heck better than having Hextall who doesn't listen to nobody.

Lack was traded at the draft for two picks after a 41 games .921 sv% year with the Canucks. They turned out to be two prospects we’re currently developing. It’s not out of the realm of possibility.
