Your entire theory about an NHL team is about drafting as many players as possible. I'm sorry you were never drafted. That doesn't change the fact that quality over quantity.

You missed the point, par for the course, it was about hitting on picks beyond the first round, Pettersson, Boeser, Hughes and Virtanen were 5th, 23rd, 7th and 6th overall picks, Benning and Brackett have only put Demko and Gaudette in the lineup after six drafts.

Every team who’s been near the bottom should and does have a nice prospect pool, this is not unique to the Canucks, hopefully some of them turn out!!

- Pacificgem

Your theory on how long draft picks should take is a bit mind numbing to say the least.

Flyers have had 22 1st through 3rd round picks since 2014 and have 6 players in the NHL that have played more than half a season.

Canucks in that same time have 17 picks and have 6 players not counting Demko during the same time.

So the question becomes, when will Lefty realize that it's about how good they are and not how many you have.

I would be so pissed if I was a sharks fan. They are currently in the same state as the 2012 Canucks.
- Codes1087

Nucks had better goaltending and worse forwards, but pretty much, yeah.

Sure, which is why I don’t think Benning is some miracle worker just like I don’t think Chevy in Winnipeg is either, or Craig MacTavish for picking Draisaitl 3rd overall is, etc. etc.

You get great players at the top of the draft, that’s the beauty of tanking, Benning accomplished what I wanted, unfortunately he was trying to be competitive but unintentionally tanked....which is why he’s an idiot

- Pacificgem

He told you this. That may not have been his actual plan. Youre just dumb enough to believe everything you hear.

I like where we are, not complaining about where we sit, just looking back I don’t see any brilliance in their process...that’s all. NHL team has great young players, prospect pool is decent, I’m happy with where they are.

Van's prospect pool is getting a serious lack of respect right now.

Scott Wheeler had the 13th last week.

I don't know where Pronman had them ranked.

Others have them hoovering around end of top 10.

Regarding drafting. If they wouldn’t have traded away McCann and Forsling, and Tryamkin wasn’t such a selfish cry baby, he’d actually have a great draft record from 2014 & 2015, which is the group I’m looking at as far as second and third round picks and beyond.....but he did.

Instead of drafting and developing I think they felt pressure from Aquilini to be competitive, thus you see the stupid moves for Sutter and Gudbranson and Clendening, etc.

They should be top third of the league considering they’ve finished poorly four straight years.

He’s done....finish his career on LTIR so he collects his salary, no harm done, he was a free asset.

I would buy out that contract this summer. I know the cap problem crowd will be front and center but you need to look at this realistically.

He would have a 1.055 cap hit for 6 years . No big deal. It gives you 2.5 mil to go out and find his replacement. Dancing around the LTIR for the next three years does not make sense . Cut your losses he played 14 games and will likely be in and mostly out of the line up for the rest of his contract.

Free up the spot and free up the space and find that replacement.

He will go onto LTIR and not count against the cap. You are allowed to exceed the cap during the off season.

I'd rather see him try and get healthy again but I guess that's because he's from my hometown and played junior hockey there and he was a friend of my wife's when they were younger. Call me selfish that he has worked hard to over come things and make himself better and i'd like to see him try to get better and get back.

Toronto won't make the playoffs this year . Nathan Horton could come out of career ending injury up his value and be traded Clarkson will score the cup winner

You need context in your statements though because you constantly mislead. The Canucks have drafted 6th, 23rd, 5th, 5th, 7th & 9th overall, four of those are in the six, where the Flyers have drafted 17th, 7th, 22nd, 2nd (lottery win from 13th), 14th & 14th, not nearly as good regarding position.

All that said, Hextall also put Aube-Kubel, Lindblom, Hart and Vorobyov on the team in the second round and beyond as well as trading up for Konecny and Frost who are also on the team. That’s ten players, pretty damn good!!

I wanted to draft this guy in the 7th round in 2018 draft and he was passed over. Now in his draft plus 2 seasons he's got 52 points in 52 games and is a plus 41

Didn't' even realize Florida took him in the 3rd round last season.

You can be over the cap by 10 % in the summer but you need to be cap compliant when the season starts .

He played 14 games . Truthfully I am pretty hard on excuses when it is coming to LTIR now.

A broken bone out 6 weeks is understandable but reoccurring injuries are pissing me off.

He got a concussion last night from skating. Sorry and thanks.

He wouldn’t count against the cap summer or winter, LTIR is all year long...he gone.
