From Justin Bourne in ‘The Athletic’.
Todd McLellan is doing his job in LA (much like D.J. Smith in Ottawa). Both are doing pretty admirable jobs in brutal situations, with their respective seasons having been over for a long time now in terms of playoff hopes. The Kings can’t score or get saves, but by underlying analytics, they’ve actually been a competitive team. They’re regularly on the right side of shot attempt and quality data at 5-on-5. But when you can’t finish or get saves (which also kills your special teams numbers), you’re gonna lose. A lot. All the coach can do, though, is get the team playing well and put them in positions to have success. He’s done that.
Can we say the same about JC? - scottak
I doubt many teams have had as much drama as this team. It’s truly unacceptable to have this much shenanigans going on both in the front office and on the ice.
JC has probably never been given a true shot at being the coach. The players refused to play his system, he has a coach behind the bench who is probably reporting directly to McD on any and every thing he does, etc.

I agree .He not the 8 mil dollar man . He has looked average at best since he made the hometown comment . |

Seabrook has a NMC so they can't send him to Rockford and wouldn't anyway. He will just be on LTIR until he is ready.
Special K can go. We have different definitions of playing well. He has a spurt of decent games but he is regressing to what he is at this point. A marginal NHL player. - Elbows15
Seabrook could go to Rockford on conditioning stint; I do not know if there is a term as in how many games a conditioning stint might entail
As for Special K, his performance the remainder of this season will determine if he is, indeed, special. Eat your Wheaties and be special?! Eh. |

Because Strome is a Winger!!! Lol
Power play, or should it be called Patrick Kane plays with the puck, until he doesn't.
Some asked for Saad to be on the Power Play, the first period should be enough to show you why he shouldn't. I will say it again, use DCat as the inside shooter.
Ever why is that so many miracle plays are made during a Hawks game? Ask Dylan Dube to make that pass to Bennett for the second goal again and I'm still waiting.
In my last post I stated the Hawks need to identify what players they want and if they are available and the Price is Right make the deal, they have Cap space. They don't have anything that screams keepers in the RFA and UFA class so go for it. |

They aren't sending Seabrook to Rockford. For anything. He will be ready by the opening of camp in any event.
Special K is at his best playing in as few games as possible. |

Who came up with the $8M number? A top #1 is currently in the $6M range. At the maximum thats what anybody would pay for Lehner on the open market - unless you are Dale Tallon overvaluing Bobo.
Let him test free agency and the Hawks can do the same. |

Yes highly sucspicous but to what extent is Crawford reporting? Maybe this is overblown because there is no visible rift between head coach and ast coach. Perhaps too we learn more about this dynamic (?) relationship near the end or after the Blackhawks season has ended.
The following goes out to worthheCup:
Interesting stats from Leafs - Ottawa game. We all have our preferences in style if play. Mathews criticized for soft and poor defensive effort. Big scorers don't often play much defense. And Mathews us a big time scorer this season with #42 tonight. On the other hand, B Tzachuk credited with 6 hits and you expect he will score at least a bit more as he and team improve |

He and Q will be checking themselves into a psych hospital soon. They have no defence and are getting no goaltending from the $10M man who didnt even start today in an important game.

Is it in English? - Elbows15
It was a sub for Richard and the F was for Final |

Lehner for Byram. - DarthKane
Now that is interesting. The rumor has legs only if Avs feel Lehner resigns with them AND is he a significant upgrade in net? How else or what other position being strengthened through trade, makes Sakic's team more formidable?
Wherever Byram goes (likely starts AHL) everyone will be keeping tabs on his progress. Whom excited you more, Caufield or Byram. |

Kane needs someone more experienced than Dach centering for him. Only Saad had any goals when those three were a line. - StLBravesFan
Still the case. At least Dach MIGHT be able to handle Kane's quick passes. Saad and Carpenter, not so much. |

Saad is the only one scoring on any Kane line the last 10+ games. |

DeBrincat has been so utterly pathetic this season that even Saad has shown better goal scorers touch/finishing ability than he has.
Last years DeBrincat would have 30 goals by now if he were playing with this years Kane. I really hope that guy shows back up again one day. I miss him. Whoever that is wearing #12 this year it’s definitely not the same guy. |

The Hawks are up 6-3 after 2.
This will be a particularly painful loss for Chicago. |
