Depends on what a Lehner wants. 8 years $8 mil. Is a no go by me both term and dollars.
- LAHawk

I like Lehner and I think, within reason, term is more concerning that dollar value. I don't think anything more than 4 years is smart. He's a good goalie but he's not a franchise guy. Keep dollars aside to build a good defense and depth. And if they can't sign him by the deadline than he should be moved.

How about having Bobo signed for 6 more years at $10M per and then using his first round pick last year to take Spencer Knight?

He's just fortunate that he has Barkov and Huberdeau signed for a few years at $5.9M. And Keith Yandle is making more than both of them.

It isnt going to end well in Miami for Dale.

After last night's win the Hawks wil need both goalies for their cup run.

Don’t know about you but for a change they didn’t allow a backup goalie to channel his inner Ken Dryden. Progress!

No doubt. He played hockey so every move he makes is gold as opposed to little Lord Stanley who can’t help but crap on everything he touches.

It will be interesting to see what Holtby gets. A little older than Lehner, but a much better resume. He is coming off a 5 x$6.1 contract. Washington can’t afford him, and they have Samsanov ready to take over. I figure a Holtby sets the market for free agent goalies. My guess is Vancouver resigns Markstrom.

As of now they have the actual date narrowed down to Feb 24th.

They are also pretty sure the Hawks will either stand pat, make some minor moves or go big.

Funny my sources told me the exact same thing. Go big, stand pat or a minor move(s).

I think Elliot has a little more inside info then most , he said they are not close then I would tend to believe him over others . And Lehner speaking about his contract in Toronto were he knows it will be a headline story that he not taking a hometown discount . As they say were there is smoke there fire . I give him 7 over 5 if that would ease his mind . He had a good 3rd ,but still looks a little off to me .

You must have been pouring yourself another bottle of Brio when the panel was discussing the Grubhauer injury last night and Elliott said he could see Crawford going to the Avs.

Edzo has gone MIA lately and his Avs are slumping. Another loss last night in the outdoor shinny game.

Missed the game last night so catching up on the 2nd now. Watching Dach behind the net on Cat’s goal, makes me think he will be an absolute pain in the ass for team’s to play against next season.

Also think Strome looks stronger on his skates and better winning puck battles this year. Wing or center another year of maturation should suit him well too.

I was going to say something about Nylavendar scoring twice but figured it was too much Kool Aid.

He’s been laser removing the Yeti foot he had tattooed over the C with tomahawks so he can get one of the various Bruin or Lightning logos tattooed over that.

"Dylan Strome has a tall, solid frame at 6-3, 200 pounds, but he doesn’t use it much.

Part of that is because his skills make him a playmaker, not a grinder, and that’s perfectly fine with the Blackhawks. But part of that is because Strome has a tendency to be passive without the puck, and he and the Hawks hope to change that habit.

'[I have to] be relentless, try to be all over the puck,' Strome said Saturday. 'I have a tendency to sit back and wait for the turnover, but in this league, you’ve got to go after it.'

....

He also knew while sitting in the Edmonton press box that the ankle wasn’t why he was there — it was because Colliton was unhappy with his play.

'I was obviously frustrated and a little bit pissed off, but that’s the point of it,' he said.

Instead of preparing for the game that day as he otherwise would have been, he had an individual film-review session with the coaching staff. The main takeaway — be more aggressive."

Despite his learning on the job how to handle in-game decisions and other noticeable issues, JC does seem to live up to his rep on developing young players.

We should have JJ put out feelers to some of his guys. See if they can confirm some of the whispers I’m hearing.

Thanks for posting this. Strome's still a young guy (turns 23 next month), so would be great to see him develop that part of his game.

my bet for the last few weeks continues to be neither goalies moved...both because of where the hawks stand and the current standings indicate alot teams are inbetween selling and buying, also who needs a goalie that would fit with the hawks in a trade..

Lehner was eligible for an extension six weeks ago. Why no deal yet? He'll be gone by the TDL if he doesn't sign (unless there is no solid trade market for him).
