why do you and others insist its a mistake...

you know nothing of the current market
you know nothing about the internal dynamics or talks with the lehner or crow
you know nothing about what talks have been going on

maybe there just is not a deal to made by the TDL

- bogiedoc

You are right to a certain extent, however Lehner can be moved anytime and I’m certain that there’s a trading partner out there, it just depends on return. Don’t you think that Carolina would take him for one of their goalies and a fourth, they would do that in a heartbeat, not saying the Hawks would.

Agree. Carolina and Colorado have the cap space to take Lehner, and the need. Take the best offer out there if he isn't signing here.

Holy poop just saw that TB is 22-2-1 in their last 25 games.
- SimpleJack

And they’ll probably still be a first round out.

So how have the Wings made the NBC Sunday game of the week for the 3rd week in a row? Jeez are they bad. Noticed they have a -102 goal differential coming into this game.

It's not hard. If they can't sign him by the TDL, they will get nothing for him when he signs with another team. To avoid this they should get something for him at the TDL.
- mohel

Except that, as has been stated, they could still potentially get something for him in the off-season by trading his rights prior to free agency.

If he doesn’t sign by the TDL, what chances do you think there are that he still signs with the Hawks for net year?

Because after suffering through years of dominance, someone wants us to be able to relish their impotence.

Far less than they can get at the TDL.

If Stan does it right, he makes his best offer now. If Lehner says no, you assume he's gone. So trade him. If it goes like that, the odds of him signing later are not great - unless his agent is a dope who doesn't know the market for the player.

Probaby, but not necessarily. Depends on how the off season goalie market pans out, and whether or not the team acquiring him has a deal in place to sign him immediately.

"Now I think we've passed all that and you can see it".

Well, let's look. ONE win against Calgary, and 5 losses in a row in the previous 5 games. That 'instinct' is not looking too good.

- MadHatter

They beat Boston, that game was stolen from them. The 3rd Edmonton goal should have been waived off, the official had his whistle to his mouth, with intent to blow the play dead. The next time a ref uses that excuse to waive off a goal it will be a lie.

Maybe one of those songs cracks the Beatles' top 40, Maybe.
- Elbows15

Yeah well like that's your opinion man. During that 2-3 year "mod period" the DC5 was pumping out as many top-40 hits and the Beatles were. And again - I'm not saying DC5 was more culturally impactful because the Beatles were a phenomenon like no other. But for that 2-3 year window the DC5 was right there with the Beatles and in my opinion were better for that short window. The Beatles would continue for 3 more year of their HOF career while the DC5 faded into the past.

The rights only last until July 1. What value is that for an acquiring team, compared to the value of a playoff run on a team primed for a solid run (like Colorado or Carolina)?

The Stones.

The Beach Boys.

- Elbows15

OK - we've found common ground.

DC5 was great 64-66.

Beatles were greatest 63-70,

Stones greatest of all time - no other comes close to the Stones 50+ year reign.

I'n fact I might put Led Zeppilin as the second best band ever behind the Stones and ahead of the Beatles.

Reporter: Are you a mod or a rocker? Ringo: I’m a mocker. (From Hard Days Night, IIRC)

“...right there with the Beatles” in popularity does not equate to “...right there with the Beatles” in quality....and they weren’t (subjectively speaking, perhaps).

DC5 were a garage band, with chugga-chugga big-drum sound who had a couple of good songs - “Everybody Knows”, “Because”, the rocker “Glad All Over” - but nothing approaching even the Beatles mid-level songs.

Think Britain owned the 60s and early 70s, while the American rock bands came on stronger late 70s, early 80s, like Van Halen, Aerosmith, Boston, etc.
