ok..now we have something to talk about...yes canes would make that deal but would the hawks? the way i am reading the public statement and the hawks current standing status...i think stanbow wants to stand pat and assess his team and the goalie thing after the season...now if the hawks go onto to lose 3 or 4 strt and drop 10 points out then his assessment timing might change.

there is another elephant on the ice with lehner: his long term mental health. Bipolar is not cured like a broken leg...controlled with medication...yes. But he is at risk for bipolar mediated setbacks...thats' not a knock on him personally...simply the way it is.

Also canes got burned on darling...do you think they are going to give lehner 6 plus years...i doubt it and i don't think any team will including the hawks...

And his addictions. Good on him for overcoming them but the reality is it one drink away and the recidivism rate is not in his favor.

AS much as I am not a fan of his, I hope he is able to say sober

I would be thrilled with a 2nd for Gus. The Hawks don't one in this draft. I haven't begun my deep dive into the draft yet but from what I can recall, there is some quality in the first two round and into the 3rd.

All in on this sort of trade. Would want A Greene more than Gus if I am a rival GM. Gus is more the Pp and depth add

BTW so the NJ trade is an indication of another Queeneville? The Blackhawks have the NJ former #1 forward in Rockford while Icehogs promoted his ECHL level talented brother due to Injuries

Don"t exppect t the Queeneville broithers to come close to imitating the success of Staahl or Sutter brothers. Oh brother!

Other: Icehogs won last two games and Kurashaev still injured.

Other: if Bowman trades for a goaltending prospect, what does that say about his confidance in the future of not only the Icehogs trioka goaltenders but Gravel as well. Bowman trading for a goaltender prospect is a gravel evaluation of our wanna be NHL goaltender prospectus

I think Strome gets moved. His value to the Hawks was as a 2C/3C. I am not sure his skating ability will allow to play that position at the NHL level.
- Elbows15

John Tavares is not a great skater, very average at best by NHL standards. But what he does have is great on ice vision and stick skills (passing, defections) and he gets himself into positions in the O zone where he scores frequently or sets up linemates.

If Strome can be half as good as Tavares in those areas there is potential for him to be an OK NHLer. Without developing those Tavares type skills he is just a guy who has trouble with the pace of NHL games and his mediocre skating stands out like a sore thumb.

Tavares lacks top end speed for sure. He has some quickness, tho. Strome sadly lacks both. It is the latter that is the real issue. Strome is okay once he gets going but he takes time to get there.

Im thinking the same thing. The risk in a hard cap era is really to great for any club to invest so much money over so many years, with his on going battle I still think of Huets contract, thankfully we were able to bury it in Rockford cant do that anymore

And some clubs won't sign him just because he is publicly honest

Tavares has some quickness but his strength is in how strong he is on his feet, on the puck, along the boards and in front of the net. He's an absolute bulldog who plays with his nose over the puck and yet has a goal scorer's head and hands. It would be nice to see Strome play with the same tenacity but so far he's not shown he wants to roll up his sleeves, be hard to play against and get dirty.

Apparently I'm a lone man standing in the wilderness on this Beatles/DC5 thing. That's fine ... there's a nobility in counter culture which was always the objective.

Being able to get to those spots kinda helps. It is where the quickness would help

Boqvist is a healthy scratch tonight and Seeler draws in. Another failed draft pick by Bowman. When a waiver claim plays over the team’s #1 prospect on defense it’s time to fire everyone. Can we expect to see Boqvist dealt at the deadline or will Stan be too stubborn to admit his mistake?

JC said the decision was performance based. Clearly he values what Seeler brings over Boqvist.

Rumour has it that the Devils have traded Blake Coleman to Colorado.

Stan is asleep at the wheel.... again.

Its not Boq, its Colliton defensive system, which is a pathetic joke. Players follow someone, then they make a pass, and the dman is totally out of position. Wonder why Crawford and Lehner get blasted with so many point blank shots ? I dont. Its because Colliton is caught up in some imaginary world where some analytics sheet is supposed to substitute for reality.

Boqvist had a rough game last night. Someone needs to sit JC down and slap the (frank) out of him.

On the bright side, Seeler will show his toughness again. Massive ice time for Gus, Seeler and Special K.

Most importantly. Smith is out

I like The Drake but I think he’s gone. Strome - 50/50 he goes. Kubalik should stay, but it’s not guaranteed.

Edit: the “X” factor is how much the salary cap ceiling increases next season. $84 million would be reasonable. Anything less and I will admit it’s unlikely Lehner stays, if it’s more that helps the odds.

- DarthKane

I think Drake is the new Shaw. He should still be reasonably affordable, and he does a lot of things well enough to keep around IMO.

Georgiev is not a guy to have a good game of catch with after watching that goal.
- Elbows15

I don’t know much about the guy. How does he compare to Lankinen as a prospect?
