Trade Crow and Lehner. Bring one back in the offseason. Let Lankinen and Delia come up and give Tompkins the reigns in Rockford the rest of the way.

Get best possible return for Gus, Smith, Maatta, and Sikura. Load up the cupboard with the return and find out what holes you need to fill in the offseason once you see how the kids perform.

- Assman22

Lankinen got injured last night and left the ice. Tweaked an old shoulder injury. Not sure if he's out for any extended period. And so goes our luck this year.

I like the daily update of the real rankings, but I think you should leave off the bolded sentence. After all, 12-8-5=29 is also winning or tying in 17 of their last 25 games, but they would still fall short.
- tvetter

At tankathon.com, it took me 4 tries to get a top 3 (#2), but 22 tries to get #1. I wonder what PE would say if we lucked into getting Lafreniere?

Huh.... This article Jaeckel posted today sounds awfully familiar. 🧐.

https://www.the-rink.com/...an-and-mcdonough-must-go/

- Toew Drags 4 Daze

Jaeckel with his bogus made up "sources" and his arguments without any facts. "If you say Bowman deserves credit for any of the cups you are stupid." And in the days he was here if you argued with him you received a ban from his little deputy. I stopped coming to this site until he left and I don't see any point in reading his tripe on another site.

Yep, to most of us....

Some still cling to the idea that a GM exists with the magical powers to keep the Hawks at the top of the league in perpetuity. Those folks are doomed to certain sadness and anger.

Jay Bouwmeester has undergone a successful Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) procedure. http://bit.ly/31Vqngj #stlblues

Can't imagine he continues to play with a pacemaker. Huge blow for the Blues.

- pdx2ord

Maybe a cardiologist could shed more light, but I would probably say he’s done, I guarantee you the Blueswill take care of him and he will have a job for life with them some where In the organization.Best wishes to Jay and his family.

Any GM of this current team is constrained by:

1. Players past their expiration dates on unmovable albatross contracts and upcoming RFA extensions that strongly limit cap space and trade options

2. Weak pipeline of impactful top tier NHL potential in the system

3. Current roster built around a defense be damned poke check machine that only rarely works

4. Weak state of the team and it’s prospects hinders attracting/retaining needed talent without overpaying (see: what will happen with Lehner)

My fear is SB waits too long thinking they still have a chance and gets nothing for guys like Lehner and Saad.

Dach, Kane and Kubalik are the only current roster players who should be retained. Everyone else should be available.

Top of my list to move is Captain Whiner. He is done. Sad thing is everyone else knows it, and won’t take on his contract.

Wave the flag, get another lottery pick, sell players for picks and prospects, wash/rinse/repeat for two more years. Three more good picks and real cap space. Then nuke McD, find a decent GM who brings in a veteran coach, and do the real rebuild.

- Return of the Roar

One of these days McD will decide to go count his money he's 66, was a Tribune VP for many years before the Hawks.

Is he sleeping in Rocky's basement? Maybe that can guarantee the #1 pick. It worked for some other franchise - who was it?

I'm getting a chuckle out of the conflicting posts. Some say that we need to sell off everything that we have, while others say that we have nothing of value that others would want (or what we do have of value is superfluous - Lehner/Crawford).

I can't wait to see what happens, because regardless of what it is (or isn't) it will ultimately be wrong.

I really hope that Stan stands pat. Then we can get the endless posts about how he missed a grand opportunity and about all of the rumored players/picks that were available for the next 10 years.

- Chunk

Hartman netted us a first round pick... values become so inflated at the trade deadline. I am sure the Hawks could get some value back if they moved a few guys. A 2nd or a 3rd round pick for Gus wouldn't be bad at all.

No one believes the Hawks would remain at the top of the league in perpetuity. That's idiotic.

But how dare anyone believe another GM could have made different moves with better results while Toews, Kane, Keith, and Crawford are still playing prime hockey.

Give me a break.

It's time to tank. I've never agreed with this philosophy of purposely losing. But lets face it, this team is getting knocked out in the first round if they make it.

It's time to play all young guys from here on out and get a top 5 pick.

It is incredibly depressing to watch Toews and Kane play like they can win a cup, yet they don't a top 16 team. A clash of one goal for sure.

I have not read any one saying another GM could have done better or worse of that matter. You're using a strawman argument here chief.

What I have a problem with is a post that says Bowman sucks and needs to be fired then backs it up with disputable points or worse just says bowman sucks and should be gone.

Could another GM have won more championships? Possibly. We'll never know will we?

Wish him well. He's 36 and a UFA at the end of the season. Looks like his career is over.

Yea....is that all you got? I don't recall Kane's name being reported as the #1 pick
years before his draft. In fact, I don't ever remember Kane's name being a majority #1 pick his draft year. So no, it was not the Blackhawks.

Still waiting for a name on said GM, and a detailed explanation of why his screw ups in his previous job are irrelevant.
