Nice to see the Jets 3rd line made up of draft and develop kids who are finally getting a chance to play and are delivering. The Jets have to continue this mini win streak against Ottawa.

Was at the game last nite. Just a few thoughts and observations.

The third line is so fast in on the puck, it kind of reminds me of that old TLC line........ except they can score, lol. This line is no experiment and it must remain intact with Ros in the middle.

Great reward for Wheeler to shift to Scheifles wing, it must be a huge mental break for Wheeler to fly down the ice on Scheifs wing. Good to see Copp move to center and take some pressure off of the Captain and Copp can handle it, so why not?

The thought of trading one of Conner, Ehlers, Laine, Copp is pure insanity. I hope there is no Hall for Larsson type of deals forth coming. It gets tossed out regularly on this board that Conner could fetch this or that. If Connor is traded, it better be Draisitl calibre coming back.

My message to Chevy, don't do anything stupid with this young core.

Thanks Wesley...

That was an exciting game...the Jets clicking on all cylinders.

It'll be nice to get a defensive defenceman in the fold.

Could be a real exciting finish to the year!

Helle kept this team in the game last nite with some big saves. One thing I will comment on with regards to peaks and valleys within a season, is that the valleys are much shorter now.

There is ebb and flow with a goalie within a season, hot, cool, cold, senior leaque, but when he is struggling with average or poor play, these valleys seem to be shorter time periods.

In otherwords, he is maturing very nicely into a consistent draft and develop goalie.

Last nite those goals were tough to almost impssible to stop. Floater over the top, wrap around and the knuckle ball. All near impossible to stop but the all the other stops, were game savers imop.

It will and be given 8 mins a game when Lowry and Perreault come back.

On vacation but I managed to watch the LA game because it was a "free" game on the NHL site so I streamed it. Nice to see Scheif and Wheeler back together. I was one of the ones who didn't want to see them broken up. Some guys just anticipate the other so well and these two definitely have that magic together.

DeMelo. An absolute steal for a third-round pick. He's was easily worth a second and maybe more. Gem of a guy who will fit with the Jet's tight dressing room culture and I'm sure the players will do whatever they can to make him feel at home so he will stay beyond this year. As far as his excellent advanced stats, let's not lose sight of the fact that he did this on a bottom-dwelling team. Those numbers should improve with the Jets. Quite happy about the minimal cost of DeMelo. Beyond this, Chevy might still be shopping for a rental center.

Bitetto might be done as a Jet in the near future, especially once Sbisa is healthy.

One could argue that Lowry should be kept around on the fourth line for his toughness and faceoff prowess but he has become somewhat expendable. Perreault .....just do whatever to trade him. He's been ineffective for two years now.

Perreault who? Lowry can bump Shore arguably, but how do we get rid of Perreault's contract realistically?

He is just taking up space and cap that the young players need minutes wise. What does a deal look like to send his contract elsewhere? Edmonton with some salary retention creativity?

I think a 4th line with (Chibisov/Shore) Lowry and Perreault would be amazing! Paid too much for 4th but what an option to have! The PKers would be relatively fresh, size and aggression in the lineup as an option and they could step into a third line traditional roll to grind and wear down opposition in a long series.

Basically 100% agree with these thoughts!

Roslovic is the one that baffles me - one game I think "we can't trade" Jack, next game I think he may be the forward sacrificed to beef up either the 2C or D position. Right now, he's almost untouchable in my mind.

Know it would be hard to break up the Harkins-Roslo-Appleton line, but is there a possibility that Roslo might be that #2C next year - one year stronger and one year more experienced? He's just getting better and more consistent.

So what do we have for trade material now? Vesalainen, our 2nd rd pick, Niku, Perreault, Kulikov (?) and possibly Lowry? So basically a 1st, 2nd, a promising young d-man, and ???. Maybe a prospect like Chisholm? Wonder if that would be enough to entice another team?

But like you say, don't panic and deal away our young core. Add a d-man through trade or free agency this summer and we should be in great shape for next season and a few years to come. This season - hopefully playoffs!

Perhaps we gained a little insight as to why Sheifele changed agents today when his former personal chef started a suit for a relatively modest sum of $75,000 for wrongful dismissal.

The chef says he was promised benefits that never materialized, was often paid late and was told to start cooking for a second player with no raise. He refused resulting in dismissal. In my opinion 75k is not an 'I hate you and i'm going to get you' amount. 75 is what he feels he lost.

Reading between the lines - Sheifele was depending on his agent to take care of the contract details and these were allegedly poorly managed. He changed player agencies. It has been noted on these threads that 55 has not appeared happy in recent interviews, perhaps this extra 'weight' is partly responsible. It may also be affecting the recent goal drought.

Playing him with Wheeler and Copp recently has probably been good for morale, good move by the coach.

Really that 75,000 shouldn't be much of a factor or anything to really bother him. It's kind of like a dime to you and me.
The guy that looks really unhappy these days is Patrik Laine. Looks like he's lost his best friend or whatever. Any theories as to why?

not so much the money bothering him but I see him as a bit of a perfectionist who puts a lot of pressure on himself to do things right and to get results and maintain integrity in what he does. It will be a paragraph in his wiki history that is regrettable regardless of whether he settles out of court or wins his court case.

It’s funny that it took Lowry getting injured for you guys to see my point on how him being our third line Center was bringing this team down.

Let’s be honest though, if it were not for the injuries to Perreault, Lowry, Letestu and Little, the ‘2015 line’ would never have been assembled.

You make this sound like Winnipeg Jet thing only.

It happens on all teams, players get injured, opportunity knocks. Some players take advantage of it, some players don't.

Most draftees aren't handed NHL jobs, they have to pay their dues and wait and hope for opportunity knocking. Appleton is the big surprise here, low draft choice, but he's worked hard and made the most of it thus far.

Well considering that these decisions only happen when injuries occur, what does that say about Maurice’s ability to evaluate talent? If he made these decisions without being forced, I would say he’s an amazing coach. If Little did not get injured in 2016, Scheifele would still be playing on the third line. If Perreault didn’t get injured in 2017, would Connor have been given that shot to play on the top line, especially when Maurice didn’t even have him on the opening day roster. I could give more examples but that would mean that this post would not end.

With Domi potentially being available, we should look at acquiring him.

To WPG: Max Domi

To MTL: Kristian Vesalainen, 2020 second round pick

That would be a fair deal!

I’d do it
Since the Habs already have 3-2nd rounders this year maybe they would prefer Stanly or Niku?

To continue,
I actually think we will see Drouin to Colorado though this week, and they won’t trade both

I would switch Connor with Ehlers. Connor and Laine seem to be developing a Kariya-Selanne type chemistry. Don’t want to interrupt that!

TSN just said Chevy will not terminate Buffs contract till after the trade deadline. He is exploring all possible trades. This also makes it impossible for buff to play anywhere this season if he’s terminated after deadline

I think this is very smart

I also think, tallon in Florida will absolutely be interested and could possibly bring Trocheck??? In a deal with other pieces????

Like I said, this happens all the time in NHL cities. Glad you agree.
