It's nonsense to suggest that Rittich is significantly better than Talbot at saving high danger shots.

When you translate the numbers to real life, you're looking at about a one goal difference every 20 games. Rittich has clearly thrown away that one goal advantage with all the bad goals he's been letting in.

Even though he's been somewhat disappointing so far, Hanifin is locked up for a reasonable number for the majority of his prime years. The Flames are paper thin already on defence and will have to overpay Brodie and Hamonic to stay while they're on the wrong side of 30.

Trading Hanifin for a forward makes zero sense, even if it is Hall. The Devils also weren't letting teams talk to Hall about an extension so how do the Flames give up Hanifin without a guaranteed extension?

Maybe Hanifin's name came up in discussions, but there's almost no chance it ever became a serious offer.

I don't generally put a ton of stock into Seravalli when it comes to anything outside of Toronto... But, I also found that interesting and it would be fairly unsurprising if that was the offer - NJD would really only have been targetting youth in their deal
