This was actually brought up on SiriusXM NHL Radio on Friday... speculation has a prospect/pick as a possibility for Staal (as Minnesota is looking at a rebuild - also speculated this move could be made if they feel NoPa will not play this season) and a pick as a possibility for Cousins (who is someone familiar to the organization, would come at a low price, and would allow a 4th liner to move up if necessary). |

PP specialist. Read a Habs thread. They rave about his PP superiority in there. |

Trading Laughton would be stupid. He's extremely underrated. He does everything well. |

Who are the Flyers moving off of their current roster to fit Staal?

Which former Flyer do we have the best chance of seeing back here (you, know...because that’s what the Flyers do!):
Nick Cousins
Wayne Simmonds
Jeff Carter
Ryan Hartman
Dale Weise
Patrick Maroon
Luca Sbisa
P.E. Bellemare

Why would Florida ever agree to that? Trocheck is clearly the best player in the trade. No one is looking at a guy like Ghost who just came off Knee surgery and has struggled the past 2 seasons and thinking to themself, yes I want to trade our 2nd Line C for him and a Career 3rd line C....... |

Bunnaman. I would think Laughton drops to 4th line C. |

Cap wise Cap friendly shows we have 2 mill in caps space. So I think some cap would just need to be retained. |

That's LTIR cap space. Which means if they plan on bringing Patrick back this season, half of that space disappears. Minnesota retaining salary could make it work but that increases the return.
There there is what it does to the Cap for next season. |

I dont think so. Yes he had that one 70 point season but last season he had 34 points in 55 games. This year he has 35 points in 55 games. Thats still a 50+ point pace over 82 games which seems to be his normal output per season |

Not sure. Not saying the deal can be made. Just saying he’d be a great fit. I’d hate to trade Laughton after the season he’s having.
If Ghost wasn’t currently on a conditioning stint, moving Braun is an option but I don’t want that with how thin we are at D and how well our pairings have played. I know Braun is a UFA but you just include him for cap purposes. |

My assumption would be they only make this move if Patrick is not going to return. From what I have read it does not appear Fletcher is looking to deal our 1st. So 2nd and a prospect not named Frost. Would be something I would be comfortable with. |
