Florida is broke and nmeeds to dump 10 million. They can't do much.
That Bobrovsky deal is a disaster

Love it when people slam Florida for moving on from Trocheck when they haven't watched him or the team play in 2 years. Please get a clue and stop overvaluing a clearly declining player who deserves nothing but bottom 6 minutes.

Florida terrible, but the Islanders even worse.

All things considered, I kinda feel like it’s Carolina. Nothing really wrong with the Vatanen and Skeij deals. Slight overpay for two bottom-pairing guys, but in a vacuum, I don’t hate those deals. And the Trochek deal seems pretty solid, too.

It’s the failure to pick up a goalie that makes them the ultimate loser. They’ve dumped a bunch of assets and draft capital on these guys, and then stuck with their AHL level goalies. Weird move

Trocheck was not the player he once was. You guys dont have a clue. He tries to fancydance his way into the zone and loses the puck and takes penalties when he gets frustrated. Misses the net way more often then a 4.75 mill guy should

In watching a few Florida games this year, I feel Trochek hasn't been impactful at all from other years. Used to be a speed demon. If the mandate was to cut salary, it's a perfect trade in that sense. Florida is still flush with talent

Can you imagine if they traded (which was rumored) Hoffman? They would be calling for Tallon's head

Yeah, Brind'amour clarified yesterday when people asked, saying that "To me, long term is like a week."

I recall back in 2003 TSN did a story about Florida being the best up and coming young team. It never stops.

you can say what you want about lou over paying but until those picks pan out and make it to the nhl, great trade for the isles. filled a big hole. 5 mil for a 20+ goal scorer is the norm now.

But Nylander got 6.9

The concern is Pageau is having his 1st 20 goal season at 27 with an unsustainably high shooting %. 6 years for a 3rd liner?

How will Islanders move these contracts? Far too much $ locked into bottom 6 talent

Carolina (along with Toronto) is probably the most analytically based team and analytics say you don't spend assets on goalies when they're so unpredictable. There is no guarantee that Lehner is any better than whoever they end up using. Unless there was a credible star goalie available (and obviously there wasn't) they were correct in not wasting time money assets or capspace on a goalie.

I don’t entirely disagree with you, conceptually. In fact, I’d probably agree with your comment if the Canes had lost ONE goalie. But they’re dealing with two AHL caliber guys now. And last night their goalie looked awful

Now, I just learned that Mrazek could be back in a week, which would render my argument kinda irrelevant. But I think we’ve all been operating under the assumption that Mrazek and Reimer are out long term

Robin Lehner was out there, but they weren't interested in dumping long term assets on a guy who almost assuredly wouldn't sign with them this summer anyway.

Huh? Every Ranger fan and anyone with half a brain in their head is laughing hysterically at the Canes for giving up a first for Skjei. Meanwhile in bizarro world James Tanner applauds the trade saying the Canes easily had the best TDL and goaltenders don’t matter their success is based purely on luck.

Skjei has been a pile of crap for a couple of seasons now the Rangers are all to happy to have moved on from him let alone get a first round pick. Easily the worst trade of the deadline. Further proof that Tanner doesn’t have a clue of what he’s talking about.
