Can you imagine if big Joe signed here, Spezza moved to the wing and the leafs ended up with a checking line of Spezza Thornton and Clifford? Damn that would be a good fourth line regardless of age.

I don't know. Let's ignore that they're slowing down, and they're not really puck hounds or anything - you have two passers and a guy who isn't known for his finish.

I'm on the side of Thornton is done, but the advanced metrics make it seem like he's still got some mojo against 3rd line competition, so I can be convinced otherwise.

No I don’t think he is either. Who knows, maybe Dubas can convince him to sign here in the summer? I think it will have a lot to do with how the leafs do in the playoffs (if they get in) cause I bet more than a few teams would be interested in him if he was willing to take league minimum for a chance to play on a contender

Let's slow down on that.. The teams that Jumbo Joe wanted to be traded to, did not want to trade for him.. Wilson's hands were tied.

Pierre LeBrun mentioned Boston, Washington, Dallas and Colorado that were the teams he wanted to go to.. Not one of them showed interest.
