Putin obviously 1. didn't want Clinton in there, because she was planning to start a war with Russia, or at least stir things up in Europe and other parts of the world 2. wanted Trump as a President, since a weak and uncapable President of US only means more options for Russia on a global scale.

This is nice. We agree on this very much. But on Trump's part he is very complimentary of Putin not just because he's beholden to him for his election but also because he has a history of praising autocrats. If Trump had the ability to murder journalists and imprison political opponents with impunity like Putin does he would be utilizing it to its utmost.
