The only stunning result, Mr Hurricane, was Pittsburgh "beating" St Louis in this popularity contest. During the regular season, Pittsburgh beat Colorado TWICE. Although winning a regular season series does not guarantee a post season victory, If this were played on the ice, Penguins over Avs is a much less surprising outcome than Pittsburgh beating St Louis.

To show how much of a popularity contest this is, I bet the Vegas result will be even more lopsided because of all the Fleury lovers who still long for the days when 29 was giving up soft goals in a Penguins uniform. Many of these Fleury fans openly were hoping for a Penguins vs Vegas final and openly said they'd root for Fleury to win that... That is what is stunning...

Good point - make that two minor trades besides Zucker.

Haha - I don't know about being the only one and while I was upset at first, I calmed down a bit and became just 'disappointed' (but really annoyed that we re-acquired Sheary). I reject the notion that we don't have assets, it's just a matter of who we get and for how long. Yeah, not having our 1st and 2nd this year isn't great, but we still have 1sts and 2nds the next two years and 3 legit prospects.

I'm fine with it, though - with Guentzel out and guys coming back from injury and playing like crap, I was already looking forward to next season when I think we have a much better shot. I just wonder if JR was maybe hedging his bets a bit, because that was a very underwhelming TDL. I think we can all agree with that.

Next year is why I'd rather save assets because I agree next year looks better fir the Pens. This year if they play might be better too with the delay helping Guentzel return, but that's if we even play at all. So I'd rather be able to make a move next year if they can't fill a hole ir have an injury. Trade a 1st or 2nd next year and you're already out 3 of your top 4 picks so it would have to be a good player with term to even consider because we'd really be hamstrung tradewise.

I don't think Legare is as highly regarded around the league as he is here, or else he'd have been drafted higher. Significant concerns, but a lottery pick worth taking at that point for the upside. POJ's stock has also fallen because his offensive game didn't develop though his defensive side did so he should be a solid player, just not the type teams will really want. But we should keep him because his value to us is the ability to hopefully take JJ's job.

Ask datsyuk, z, benn, horny about draft position and perceived value around the lg. How many first rounders never play more than a few games. Different gm’s value different skill sets. Légaré might be a bust but we won’t know until he at least suits up in the ahl. Letang was a 3rd rounder and he seems decent.

I wasn't saying they don't work out. I was just commenting on trade value.

Legare gets pumped up here because of our shallow prospect pool his high ceiling as a goal-scorer, but on most teams he wouldn't crack their top tier because of a higher bust potential. I mention him as a 3rd rounder because it means every team passed on him in the 2nd round to show why he wouldn't be a hot trade commodity.

Another reason Legare has gotten a little hype was his camp performance. His skating is flawed, but he's got a pretty sick shot. Wasn't easily knocked off the puck either. Honestly, I thought he looked better than Poulin in camp. Might develop into Hornie's replacement.

Regarding the prospects, who knows, but they at least seem legit. As for POJ and his lack of offense, I immediately thought of Dumo. I'm not sure if he's rated as highly, but they are both lefties and both drafted in the first round.

Stunning?

Not quite.

Delusional?

Hardly.

Overly optimistic and one sided. You bet.

I think dumo was his comparable when ppl spoke of him. We don’t have much so hopefully Légaré and Poulin amount to something. Hopefully hallender, bjorkqvist, and o’connor have a good go of the ahl this next year.

I sort of think of Pettersson (but seemingly better hockey sense) because of the slighter frame or maybe Marino. But Dumo is also a good comparable as a guy who didn't hit the offense projections he had earlier when he was drafted in the 2nd round but became a good defenseman anyways.

I think he'll be solid, but most teams don't have a big need for solid left shot defenders and have guys like him in their pool, thus why I don't see him as a big desirable trade piece even though I think he will play in the NHL soon maybe even 2nd pair. Teams tend to want plus puck-movers, righties, or guys with size more.

Whoops, I was wrong again. But I love how you just mention it in passing.
As for the rest, you are probably right. Just like Petts, he'll probably always be somewhat of a beanpole. For some reason I thought POJ was taller than 6'0". Ok, enough bad taeks from me today.

Absolutely.
