We are going to lose a very good piece of our team in this next draft. I'm not a fan of this draft robbery that is being committed. So die this men we will be talking about who we love in the upcoming expansion draft? I'd leave JVR exposed or maybe trade Jake before we lose him for nothing. Neither player should be protected, imo

Bill, which category of players are not expansion draft eligible even though they are not protected? I would suspect those on ELC's, perhaps.

As pertains to the Flyers:

* First and second year pros (based on 2020-21 season). For example, Farabee and Frost will be exempt next summer.

* Career-Threatening Injury exemption: As of right now, Oskar Lindblom and Nolan Patrick would both qualify for this exemption.

* Unsigned draft picks: For example, Cam York and Bobby Brink fit this exemption.

Clarke and Leach will make it a tough game, especially with rookie sensation Hextall in the net, but it won’t be enough. Fat Balloon and a 39 year old Ted Harris are 2 weak spots that will be exploited. Falloon will screw up on the D side of the game and Harris will have a hard time dealing with the quickness/shiftiness of the Quebec forwards.

But in the end it will Bernie Parent who steals the show. Clarke will find a way to get Leach 2 goals to keep it close, but the final will be 4-2 Quebec with Gagne scoring into an empty net to seal the victory.

Manitoba will come in with a clear game plan. Dump the puck in Desjardin side and hammer him repeatedly when he goes to retrieve. And prey on Briere's defensive weaknesses and his lack of discipline. When he gets near the net, Hexy will give him some sly slashes and Clarke will be all over him whenevr he gets the chance. Once Briere is stuck deep, they will look for quick counter rushes and play a puck possession game and take advantage of Briere having to cover the points.

With an average of +60 apiece, the LCF line will take away time and space from Quebec forwards. The Frenchies will score some goals but the key difference will be the lopsided power plays and the 18% shooting average of Leach that year and Clarke so used to having him on his wing.

Leach with a hat-trick. 6-4 Team Clarke in a wild game.

The best thing Flech can do in the expansion draft is the opposite of his decisions last time. Any indication that he has learned his lesson?

Pat Falloon is the wing on Desjardins side, he isn’t going to hammer anyone. The only Manitoba forward who is going to check anyone is Clarke and Desjardins has 20 pounds on him. The Moose is by far the most physical player on either team, lol.

Great write up today Bill and thank you for the updates.

And I know Donnelly well, he can't accept anyone's passes.

But Desjardins was soft because someone once said so.

Also, he "eeked" into the top-10 (9) defensemen in the game that year per Norris votes. So he wasn't really one of the best in the league, somehow, because logic and reasons.

I think the expansion draft game plan will be to not flip any picks to protect an extra slot. They’er going to lose someone good. Bottom line. Good thing is they’er deep enough to lose someone good. The Flyers didn’t have this issue the last expansion draft. So it is a good thing.

No way to know what moves Chuck does from now till then but as is I would expect both Ghost and JVR to be exposed. They would both be missed but we can absorb the lose some. The franchise is so thick right now. They may just come out of this expansion draft okay. They will lose someone good but be able to adjust.

I would think ghost would be traded for prospects/picks instead of losing him for nothing

Yeah. That could happen. Chuck has been Davy up to this point. The Flyers are going to have to be creative as is to sign player back just to hold the line up as is. After watching the Leafs play the game last summer I know it can be done to a point. Saw them bend the rules all over the place. They were slick.

Was reading quotes from Laughton from Bill’s story on the Flyers’ main page and just seeing him talk about a desire to win the cup and knowing that a big chunk of the fan base believes it can be done is amazing. At the start of the season those who talked about a Stanley Cup this year were crushed on the chat lines. Now it is widely accepted.

Crazy that this Pandemic comes in at the time the Flyers are at their hotties in the last decade.
