Namestnikov is a decent hockey player but never got going in Smith's mess but he served his purpose.

I always thought the reaction to the Namestikov trade to Colorado was overblown.

He was acquired as a stop gap, did his job, and was sent out for slightly less than what it cost to get him.

perfectly fine asset management.

Height for wingers is not much an issue anymore, look at all the 30+ goal scoring wingers at or under 5'10".

BRENDAN GALLAGHER 5'9"
ALEX DeBRINCAT 5"7"
Brad Marchand 5'9"
Johnny Gaudreau 5'9"

and many more

- Athrin

Brendan Gallagher - 25 years before he turned into a 30 goal scorer
Alex DeBrincat - 21 years when he scored 40
Brad Marchand - 26/27 when he really became a true 30+ goal scorer
Johnny Gaudreau - 22/23

I see your point. However, with Rossi, I don't know if he'll score 30 goals, and if he does, I'm sure it will take 3-4 years most likely. Alexander Holtz & Lucas Raymond look very ready for that, maybe as soon as 2022. What I will say is that Ottawa really NEEDS 1 of Stutzle, A.L, or Byfield

Another incredible thing, none of those players listed are 1st rounders

Agreed. Dorion is doing it right. The first 2 rounds go big & safe. A lot of your big goal scorers are later round picks.

According to Pierre McGuire, the fastest rising prospect is Jake Sanderson. He compared it to the way Karlson shot up the charts at the end. Pierre would not be surprised if some team picks him over Drysdale. Sanderson is also bigger! If his thinking is correct this muddies up the water for the top 5-6. There should be some surprises

Ya I heard that too. I don't see him being selected in the top 5; but certainly 6-11 is very possible (and where I have him going)

The Hockey Writers mock draft May11, has Drysdale going at number 3! This is crazy, ahead of Stuzel! No way, I think he goes 6 maybe 5.

When we look back at this draft, this is how I think people will look at how the top 10 should've went:

(01) Alexis Lafreniere
(02) Tim Stutzle
(03) Quinton Byfield
(04) Lucas Raymond
(05) Jake Sanderson
(06) Yaroslav Askarov
(07) Alexander Holtz
(08) Jack Quinn
(09) Jamie Drysdale
(10) Marco Rossi

Garrioch said Dorion probably trade Tierney to make room for ours young center. Who your target for Tierney. Me I try Tierney + isles first + a second round vs Dumba

Interesting he didnt trade him at the deadline.

Packaging him with the first I like. I still want them to trade up with it though.

This is the guy that I think the Sens need to take some risk to acquire in the draft. Because of the concussion protocol, good chance he slips to top of second round.

20. Hendrix Lapierre, C, Chicoutimi Sagueneens (QMJHL): Great background work will have to be done on this player. If health is a non-issue, and that’s a big question, there’s a steal waiting to happen.(Sportsnet, Cosentino)

What kind of player does he translate to?

He was in the conversation to be a top 5 draft pick coming into the season. He got rave reviews at the Ivan Hlinka tournament last summer. He experienced a concussion and missed almost all of last season. Now his agent and others are reporting that it was primarily a neck injury and there are no serious concussion issues.

Everyone believes he would be a steal at #20 in the draft. But, the other side of the argument is that there will still be great players available at #20. So, if you are a team that has only one first round pick, do you risk drafting the guy with a potential concussion history over another guy who has a very good chance of being a quality NHLer?

It's difficult for any team contemplating drafting him. Even if they do a thorough check & everything's OK there's always the possibility that the player will become tentative or timid to avoid injuries.

I think so. Especially with this draft having so many good high end players all the way through the first round. This is the reason I believe Ottawa might have a shot at Lapierre in the second round.

I agree with Spatso on Lapierre but again, I doubt he'll be there at 33.

Comparisons have been made to PATRICE BERGERON

One thing I'll say about it, there are MANY good players in this draft. If this guy doesn't get drafted, I could only see issues with health. That said, it wouldn't surprise me if he goes between 12-20

I thought Colin White was the new Patrice Bergeron. That's what his college coach and other hockey people said before the 2015 draft...
My belief is that Lapierre will be taken late in the first round of the draft. A 12 to 20 is also quite possible.
