What is your thought about selling for draft picks?

Don't sell the farm - but maybe cut some money - vlasic? I could see Montreal paying big for a player like him.

- Ben.Shelley.

Agreed - though ultimately depends on what the return might be.

That said - I don't see the draft picks we have worth enough for anything other than short-term depth players. (Well, unless Tampa completely tanks). I'd rather draft/develop.

I'd be curious if anyone would be willing to take Vlassic off our hands, I have my doubts - his game overall is regressing pretty bad and that contract is brutal. And that's assuming he would even be willing to wave the NMC.

I’m not so sure the picks are necessary as much as they used to be.
Sure there are the great early round picks, should we strive for those yearly al la Edmonton? Almost 15 years of top 10 picks and only two playoff appearances. Of course not, they should be few and far between.
the bread and butter of the team has been late rounds....

No chance. With Shea being 34 and inked another 7 seasons, no way they take on Vlassic and his 7 year deal at 33 years old. Great players, but I think my Devs would have an easier time trading PK and his 2 remaining years (and he stinks).

The Sharks need to keep their draft picks. Finishing 29th has to be a wake up call for Doug Wilson. The Karlson trade seemed good at the time but it turned out to be a big win for Ottawa. The Sharks pick in this years draft can be anywhere from first to sixth. Even at 6, this years draft is the most talented in years. Basically a top end talent. Keep the picks!

Don't be surprised if DW trades our 2nd rounders for G Georgiev and Kasperi Kapanen. He loves both young players with term and has already alluded to using the picks for "NHL ready" talent. Personally, I'd be fine with those moves. Vlasic to Toronto with some retained salary would assist both teams with cap issues. Next year, Burnzie goes to Seattle to help them hit the cap floor and Merkley has a year in the AHL. We'd have a young explosive core and some cap space. That could work!

I'd be very surprised. I think Georgiev and Kapanen are going to cost a lot (a lot more than I think they're worth). That said, Wilson's pulled off some great moves in the past.
