Caught a break? What the farfegnugen is Crosby? Canucks have NEVER had a 1st overall. Penguin got the best player ever in Lemieux and the consolation prize, Crosby...

You sound like Tanner bro. Sad. After all that good content you put up a stinker.

Interesante... I guess a first round pick would soften the blow of a first round exit a bit...

I haven’t heard great things about this draft, so drafting mid-late doesn’t soften any real blow.

The hub city should not be an advantage for anyone. Pick two cites one in each conference and make the east play in the west and vice versa

I think the chances of winning the lottery are too low to give much thought to at this point and in any case I want the Pens to win.

What I want to see/hear is the crying if Pittsburgh is picked as a hub city (our covid19 rate is low) and then the Pens go on to win the Cup. "An * for Bettman's Penguins with another artificial Cup win!"

The Pens should beat Montreal and if they lose then it will be a really bad ending to their season. What I am most concerned with is the round robin at the top. That means that the Pens could in theory play Boston in the series following the first one. I can understand having some exhibition games for the top teams but it is not very fair to reseed them from their regular season rankings.

Yes, that is true. But it will mean some money flowing in to that market.

I was running off the assumption we’d trade the pick.

Not fair to re-seed the top teams? There are teams that had basically no chance of making the playoffs getting another chance so everything went out the window.

Assuming they didn't move up in the lottery, they'd probably pick 15th, the last lottery spot, and have that pick or prospect a year sooner, so even as a trading asset it's more valuable. I'd rather have a deep run of course, but yeah at least that would be something.

Yeah. I'm probably already going too far with this, but if the cap drops there will be quite a few teams in a position to have to shed salary. Obviously most would hope JJ would be the one to go, but there also has to be a team in financial position to take him.

Teams will be lining up behind teams like LA and OTT to take their trash off their hands and maybe a mid-round 1st would be just what it takes to make said move.

I'm already being majorly chirped by Habs fans...

In my mind though, there's a long ways to go with a lot of things having to go right/not wrong for this to even happen...cautiously optimistic

There's going to be a lot of chirping and probably more than a couple of upsets.

Bjugstad has a set back, for surgery, and is done for the season. So much for that speculation...

No doubt...I think Pens/Habs, most of the match ups for that matter, are 50/50.

Habs, if healthy, are a strong enough team IMO. Who knows who will be healthy by the time puck drops though...if it does at all...

I don’t know if we’re better for it since he is one of our 12 most talent forwards when healthy, but I also don’t really care all that much. His overall game is better than ZAR’s but ZAR has also been a top defensive forward in the league this year. I usually always default to icing the most talent, but ZAR’s skill set for that fourth line’s identity is such a perfect fit that in this case fit might trump skill.

G is progressing. Rutherford says there’s still plenty of time so the org Is optimistic he’ll be able to go once play resumes.

Sounds like there’s still some doubt there. He might be playing slow if/when he comes back.

Yeah, I wasn't starting him either, but he and Simon out impacts our depth and I have no faith in going potentially 5 rounds without further injury. Unbelievable how bad his injuries have been this year.

Well that at least makes decisions easier, but also reflects how good the Pens' depth is even with Simon and Bjugstad

Zucker/Sid/Sheary
Jake/Geno/Rust
Marleau/McCann/Horn
ZAR/Blue/Tanev
Rod

That's a very solid lineup even without Simon and Bjug.

I think even those teams can start to see an end to their rebuild and might not want a bad lomg deal. Bjugstad maybe. I think we might be stuck with JJ unless there's a compliance buyout.
