Thanks for the article Ben. I think we will be okay so long as we stay within Barry’s system and everyone produces the way they should. I would have a tight leash on anyone not willing to leave it all out on the ice. |

I think the Islanders got a favorable matchup to make the playoffs. They were slumping the last month, partially due to injuries, but I think they will be ready to go.
I expect to see less of Matt Martin and more of Johnston. Martin seems to have backed off his play in the second half. Perhaps to avoid injury at the end of his contract. |

I think you’ll see the CCM line do their thing in the POs now that they are all healthy. |

Thanks for reading! Agreed, especially on the back end where the Isles have the pieces to swap someone out if need be. |

Agreed, getting the Panthers was probably the best-case scenario for New York. |

I hope so, I still feel Johnston is the better choice. He's faster, makes good decisions and few mistakes, and has a greater offensive upside. It time the Islanders leave him in and let him develop. |

I am really hoping it's just a contract ploy. |

I still think he's coming until something happens otherwise. Even if he signs now, I don't see him playing until next season. |

When people say this about Johnston I watch him play and don’t see anything they’re seeing. With that said I say this not caring whether it’s Johnston or Martin in that spot unless Martin suddenly found his game because he was pretty putrid last season IMO. |

Ross gets to the wall and usually comes out with the puck or makes a nice pass across the crease. There just isn't anyone on that line programmed to go to the net. He also has a great wrist shot. He and Cizikas belong on scoring lines where they can develop their offense a bit instead of looking for hits. What the hell is Komarov doing on the 3rd line? Brassard should have been centering Matt and Clutter while Ross and Cizikas man the 3rd.
We never needed Pageau to be solid up the middle. Part of that $5 million could have gone to Sorokin, who has been earning $2.5 in the KHL and obviously isn't going to settle for less. He'll end up signing for a year in the KHL and entering the NHL next year as a UFR |
