What do they need that the Sabres might have?
- Michael Pachla

Well let me get the smart ass answer out-of-the-way first... Jack...

I’m not educated enough on the Sabres roster...
But I know not Skinner or Kyle...

We do need a right handed D with a big shot and that’s Risto.. so something based around that.. perhaps ...

Nah we’ve been down that road... and Guhle.. with Tracey as the late 1st ... was a really good return...

We have three picks in the top 36 and I wouldn’t mind taking Guhles brother, Kaiden.

Ok I’ll down I guess. My point was that they have lots of money tide up in different places, and Strome, while good, on the third line wont provide the umpf for the dollar needed. And people know this. So why not see if he could be had for cheap. Also, we seem to have good trade history with chi. Dom, Joki, and who’s next?
- SDSabre

Well I will say Buffalo tried to get Strome once already, and screwed it up about 2 weeks before the deadline, but Risto wasn't involved. Hopefully it is revisited, but will see with Botts gone.

Seen plenty of people say poor Detroit. Here’s the thing. It’s nearly 50/50 that they would stay in the top 3. It’s designed that way. Sorry I’m not sorry bout it.

If I’m chi management, or any mgmt that that there is change to, the first thing I do is try to revisit, especially if I’m the aggressor in the deal

As I see it Adams now has premium assets at every position to trade:

Top six forwards: Reinhart
Nhl defensemen: Montour, Risto
Draft picks: #8 overall
Elite top #50 prospects: Cozens

Want a pick? Got #8 overall. Want a star prospect? Got that too. Want a D or a top line player? Check and Check.

I'm not saying I would trade any of these, but the options are all there. There is really no excuse for the roster to not be massively shaken up next year.

Risto for henrique is a close salary match...however, those extra 2 yrs on Henrique's contract is troublesome

I honestly count 2 premium assets, and one of them at a position they can't afford to subtract from unless it's for a player at that position that's better (reinhart)

Elliotte Friedman, on Sportsnet, says he spoke with Sabres’ new director of scouting Jeremiah Crowe today:

“I think you’re going to see the Sabres, based on my conversation with him, do some different things.” (1/2)

Elliotte cont’d (2/2) “I think they’re gonna do video scouting, analytics, and on the ground scouting, and they want to do a mix of all three. It’s pretty clear that the Sabres are going to try some new and different things, though he did say some external hires are coming.”

Ya think they would have used a hybrid scouting format by now.

I’m glad their using this approach.

If Adams is true to what he’s said so far I think he has a shot at being really good. Just hope Terry and Kim let him do his thing

As much as I’d trade Risto for just about anything (so they stop playing him 25 min ) I think they’d get an additional asset with Henrique

That early 2nd which is no worse than 36...

Or we could go even bigger because we’ve got Dostal coming and as a Sabres know very well... Czech goalies are pretty good...

Done. Give Montour a 2-3 year deal 4 mil and he can be the 2/3 RD.

I want Jokiharju playing serious minutes next year

I like Henrique but with no compliance buyouts its another contract that has a better than 50% chance of crushing you as early as next year

It does but you nullify the risk of 55 playing 25 min a night.

Henrique IMO could still be a fine 3C for 2 seasons

You're picking up a No. 2 C and filling a huge hole for a player that almost everyone wants gone and getting a 2nd rounder. And you're keeping your 1st rounder.

Not bad

Rico does a ton of small things really well, Good for about 23 goals. Scores timely goals. Does not take dumb penalties. Is a great teammate. He’s a real asset to any squad.
