With such a long layoff, the opening round will be a gong show.. will not be a true testament to the status of a particular club. As a leafs fan, losing to Columbus isn't a huge failure in the grand scheme. No different than a rough October...
If they lose, and managed to steal the #1 pick, the hate would be so strong. I live on the westcoast, and everyone would be super triggered. Id love for them to win the 1st pick just to watch Canucks fans melt down...

Anyways, The season, and upcoming "playoff" is a write off. The players were robbed, and the fans were robbed. Success in the upcoming tournament is not indicative of the grind teams, and players experience in a full regular season followed by a gruelling playoffs.

Hoping for a "1st round exit", and a 1st overall steal to watch the world burn

I would do it except I think with Rielly and a starting goalie coming up, I think they need to hope their own Dmen develop, their forwards finally realize there are 2 ends to the ice and Ander7en doesn't poop the bed in the meantime.

If Leafs would somehow end up with the 1st overall, they should at least consider trading it.


e.g. something like Hamilton + Svechnikov for Lafreniere and ??
or Tkachuk (Calgary) ++ for Lafreniere +

or even more interesting: Heiskanen for Lafreniere straight up or Provorov + Couturier for Lafreniere + ?
