It might not be as crazy as it sounds. Eichel is at his peak now and has crazy value. Next year if he demands a trade, good luck getting half what he is worth...

Patric Hornqvist will have to hang out by himself for a little bit. He is going to have to quarantine after coming over from Sweden. Sweden famously went with the herd immunity approach and did not shut down the country. They left schools, restaurants, and bars open during the COVID-19 outbreak. It didn’t go as well as they wanted.

We don't trade guys like Ristolainen and Bogosian when they demand to be traded, but let's get out ahead on the possibilty with the best player the franchise has seen in years?

No thank you.

That's entirely what were doing.

Also, the spikes are recent, you do know death rates will rise as it doesn't kill you instantly, right?

- sbroads24

The spikes are mostly the younger demographic, as they are the ones rioting as well as going out to bars/restaurants. If states are now protecting the elderly, which they failed to do in the beginning, there is no way the death rate will be the same as say Mar/Apr. And quite frankly if in fact the death rate of this virus stays the same or even drops after these spikes we should all be celebrating, but MSM won’t allow that one.

It is a big assumption that the CHL will begin on time while the NHL will not start their season until New Year's Day (this year and moving forward).

But, if both of the above are correct, discussions will absolutely need to take place.

- kingcong39

Have you read or heard that subsequent NHL seasons will also get pushed back to December/January?

His Forward and Defense pairings are below.

I think the idea is there wouldn't be a defined 2nd line and a defined 3rd line, as the line that is playing better each game would get more minutes, while matchups and home vs. away games also playing a factor.

Olofsson - Eichel - Reinhart
Skinner - Kerfoot - Jesper Fast
Kahun - Cozens - Elias Lindholm
Johansson - Lundell - Okposo

Dahlin - Savard
Merrill - Jokiharju
McCabe - Miller
Borgen

Ullmark
Cam Talbot

I'm not overly excited about that lineup.
It's certainly a step forward in some areas, but Fast as a 2RW, while Lindholm is 3RW seems upside down to me. I get distributing the scoring, but it doesn't do it for me, and Kerfoot as 2C is a big yawner.

Last time (couple years ago) we brought our younger dog (Bee Bee) along for the euthanasia. She sat next to our pix-mix (sky brown) on the blanket for his final moments.

Bee Bee knew immediately when the shot was injected, and her brother had passed. Saved for all the searching around the house for weeks, as I've had in the past.
Dog's are the best, they have unbelievable senses.

Sorry again , I feel for you and your wife.

* just got a boxer mix pup in april. Cookie Dough.
Bee bee has her hands full with the new pup.

It's all just rumors and chatter, but the talk has been the NHL loving the idea of starting their season with outdoor games on New Year's Day, and having the 2nd half of their season and playoffs only have to deal with baseball during the end of summer and early fall (September).

That seems to be a new baseline they want to go with.

In reality, the Cozens - Lindholm line is really the 2nd line, but it will take part of the season or the whole season for that to really happen.

The author's idea was to pair players that have skillsets that mesh well, hence the Kerfoot - Skinner pairing and the Cozens - Lindholm pairing. Plus, Lindholm can play Center and take draws when needed.

I'm not thrilled with it, but it is quite an improvement.

Ultimately, I would rather not rely on 2 rookies as part of the 4 Centers, but the author did not sign Larsson as a UFA because it seems well know Larsson wants to go elsewhere.

The question is, now lacking a true 1C going forward, do you draft Byfield at 1 or still go with Lafreniere?

And who do you draft at 3 and 5?

- Powerslave

Byfield.

Risto for Lindholm is a home run that I don’t think is realistic

His contract is excellent.

Only way I see this work is if they sign Hall and have to shed forward salary

I'd be shocked if fans in the Northeast want to go or even watch the hockey in July and August.
I read that the 2020-2021 season would be crunched so that they would be able to start and end the playoffs "on-time", but that was assuming more of a Dec 1st start date.
Interesting.

My guess is there is going to be a number of guys self quarantining when Phase 3 starts...hopefully that can get that under control and Phase 4 starts off clean.

I know it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but I wanted to see Ovi break the goals record. Even losing 20-30 games total makes that less likely

he was going downhill quick

it was easier then I thought

of course having the 100 lb german still at the house helps, but it sucked

he is no longer in pain though

- homiedclown

Sorry to hear that... I had to put my 15 yr old chocolate down in Sept.... Dog's should live longer! and you are right it sucks!

I liked his thoughts on walking away from the UFA's. IMO, there aren't too many I want resigned, especially at their expected costs.

If they could shed themselves of
Risto, Monte and even Mojo I'd be happy with the nearly $14M saved...as long as they don't decide to bring in more Frolik's, Simmond's types and just waste the savings.

I'm with you on that being the only likely scenario, unless they really like Montour and he's in the deal instead.

Okposo won't be going anywhere anytime soon...

"Seeing all sorts of speculative chatter amongst fans discussing possibility of new CBA amnesty buyouts to help clubs manage flat cap. Amnesty buyouts are NOT part of agreement. They might make a GM’s life easier but wouldn’t help owners/players navigate their troubled economy."
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) July 2, 2020

- kingcong39

Well we can bite that bullet better then about 15 teams, no buyouts might actually help us more, because there is gonna more talent available know.

good take!
Although, I wish Kyle would just retire, take a job with the Hockey Academy, 3 years at $2.5.
It ain't $6m, but it isn't dog poop either.

Unfortunately, he probably won't consider retirement, barring further TBI, because he's still a useful hockey player. He's just not a $6M hockey player.

They want to have an entirely new NHL season calendar starting next year from the rumors and chatter. Think 1/1 to 10/1.
