Is Krug a UFA or RFA?
How would Toronto afford Piet? |

Krug is a UFA.
Leafs are getting a $90 million Cap apparently. Don't forget. Leafs are trading for Risto too. Well according to Ek anyway. |

Hall doesnât top my list.
His career isnât all that impressive & behind AP & Krug both. Oft injured winger who doesnât carry a real team isnât worth signing at what HE thinks heâs worth. |

UFA
They cannot cuz every Leaf fan wonât move any of the big 3 nor Willy on a good contract. It leaves min contracts galore to almost fill the roster. |

You said yesterday Vegas was a hub city. Youâve been saying for weeks your âsourcesâ told you Vegas was a hub city and that Vegas may even host all the teams.
Now 24 hours later you change your tune.
Give it up, Ek.

From his blog yesterday: All signs are leading to Vegas and Toronto being named the host cities soon, with Edmonton being an alternate should issues arise in Vegas. There is no question that the situation in Vegas is starting to feel dicey, and I am told the NHL is not opposed to going to Canada for both host cities if the virus worsens much more in the States.
Obviously Vegas has issues, so where did he change his tune? |

Seems pretty clear he didn't.
I wonder how much advantage players of these teams might have just with the psychological familiarity with arena, rinks, how the pucks bounce off the boards etc.
Not that much, I suspect. |

There is so much uncertainty with hockey, the cap and future income it's impossible to know how the UFA market is going to play out. Large contracts might be in short supply. |

Totally agree Canada Day is not the same without UFA movements. I think in terms of competitive team we may be stuck if we don't move Price contract and if he can't pull something off miraculously this play-in/playoffs , taxes aside , his salary cap along with Weber prevents other agents from coming in. The last time Habs made a splash was bringing in Gomez/Gionta/Callamari in 2009 if I recall, however we know how that turned out. Lafreniere may be a catalyst to bring other players in if we get him |

I don't think it will be that high - more like $3 - $4 M. If he were really worth more, Toronto would be resigning him. |

Eklund on June 30th: "All signs are leading to Vegas and Toronto being named the host cities soon"
Eklund on July 1st: "I have been saying this for a while now, but the NHL is really nervous about Vegas and now Bob McKenzie is reporting what I've been hearing for a while now...The two host cities may indeed be BOTH Canadian, as Edmonton and Toronto are the new favorites"
You can't even script this...sums up "journalism" perfectly in 2020!

The Flames should use whatever money they're getting ready to overpay Hall with to overpay Pietrangelo or Krug instead.
Considering how they're a year away from having the preseason best in the league defence, they have absolutely nothing coming up to replace anyone moving on or getting old. |

I wonder if there has been any discussion about the quarantining of coverage crews?
Will there be the usual entourage of journalists in the games or will there be no press allowed, just like no spectators? TV crews for live broadcasts can be quite large, when you factor in technicians, cameramen, etc. etc though I assume this time there will be no on-ice interviews with a gasping player.
Who quarantines them? |

LOL, itâs a classic âcover all your basesâ move by Ek. Say one thing, then change it the next day claiming youâve been saying it for a while.
What about the âVegas to host the west, east still up for grabsâ post from earlier? No follow up, no admitting your âsourceâ was wrong... |

This question goes to the Buzz panel: When the NHL fires up the 2020 playoff rules, regulations, and towns will you as a Hockey writer travel and live in the bubble?
(assuming writers are welcome and can travel cross borders) |
