If the players are going to bubbled, why would they care where they go?
They're not going to be strolling down the river valley or hanging out at casinos.
Ideally, they should have seen if Dana White could have built them an outdoor rink on Fight Island. |

My belief as to why they care is because they probably are going to break the rules.
I myself am concerned that given the number of players from the GTA, that many will go to either homes they have there or family/friends |

They're not in high school. No one is going to be sneaking out.

And if they are, they should be ineligible to compete from then on. |

Congratulations...after a decade of incompetent franchise re-building...you’re finally going to be hosting the stanley cup final.
Too bad you won’t be in it. |

Once the terms of the platform of the hub cities are announced we can lay all this speculation to rest, but I just question why would a guy like mcdavid stay in a hotel for a few months when he has a house in Edmonton. The same goes for any player that plays for any team but resides in one of the hub cities in the off-season.
As well players will likely be doing other things such as golfing or attending restaurants in their free time, basically just doing what ever the location’s restrictions allow them to. |

McDavid will stay in a hotel because those are the rules. Maybe you haven't heard, but there's this pandemic thing going on. There's no hockey unless the players agree to the isolation part. They won't be going to restaurants or golfing unless they're going places closed to everyone else. Trump isn't going to be in charge of the isolation procedures.
McDavid only has to worry about the isolation for a couple weeks anyway. He'll manage. |

Because that's how an isolation bubble works. |

The quarantine pulling me back form Europe was a bit of a BONE-r but all is well now How about yourself?
Geeze that sucks. Were you living there, working? Travelling?
Honestly, except for the social impact I am not finding it too bad. That is easy for me to say though as both my wife and I are still working. The worst part is my family living in Florida. Not being able to see my dad, and being concerned about them is really sucking.
Not sure how I feel about the NHL starting up. To be honest, I would have been just as happy with them cancelling the season.

You know the SCF is going to be in the East.
The same reason why Toronto is hosting.
Big TV markets.

What does Toronto hosting have to do with big TV markets? I know the tech is still new, but they are able to broadcast a TV signal at least a couple hundred kilometers these days.
They always put all the finals games at 8 Eastern no matter where they're being played. |

I think they'll want the players playing at 7 pm their time. |

They need to have at least 2 games a day in each city and all games that aren't on Sundays have been at 8ET once they get to the conference finals.

I'll take an Edmonton or an Alberta Summer any day over Ontario. I don't particularly enjoy constant 30C+ weather with gross humidity like they're getting now. Alberta Summers are regularly 22-25C weather with little to no humidity. Comfortably warm through the day and mostly cool enough at night that you don't suffocate in your bed! |

While it's looked to be the case for a while now, De Haan is officially back on the ice. While he may still be rusty for the play-ins, this certainly negates some of the defensive deficiencies the Oilers would've hoped to exploit during the series. His addition boosts their D corps a lot. |

On another note, this flat cap business might just be a blessing in disguise for the Oilers. With Bear, AA, Nuge and Yamamoto (also Larsson, but I don't prioritize signing him) all up for new contracts over the next two years, their cap numbers might be held artificially lower. While this likely means shorter term deals (though not guaranteed), it means a maximizing of a competitive window during that time frame. |
