Its not about who they wanted- its about what coach would be desperate enough to take NJ's lowball offer. Theres no other reason, unless they either want NJ to lose, or they're in denial of Ruff's stats the past several years...which is abysmal. I literally couldn't be more disappointed.

I know this will not calm you down but I can try. Off the top of my head, he does have a good record of dealing with young talented forwards, pedigreed and not so pedigreed, and turning them into all stars. To wit, Danny Briere, Tomas Vanek. Even Tyler Seguin. Drury had some of his best years in Buffalo.

You have one season of strangely underachieving Hughes, and Nico is up and coming but I think he can do much more. Aand, you might get a very good player in #7 in the draft who could well be a forward. If he develops them into all stars and leaves in 2-3 years time, would you complain?

They're going to be icing ~maybe~ three defensemen who belong in the NHL next season (if Ty Smith is in fact ready), with a coach who appears to have been their third choice and a history of running teams that are at best suspect defensively. They need to at least bring in a workhorse 1B goalie, or maybe try that walrus from the Gieco commercial, so that Blackwood is not run into the ground at 24 playing 65 games and facing 50 shots each time.

Still feels like a bad dream when you think about how radically different the vibe was surrounding this team less than a year ago, compared to where they are now.
