I think it’ll be close to 8 years around $7M per season that’s front loaded |

TRADE ON THE YEAR!!!
Ottawa:
Matthew Tkachuk
Calgary:
1st 2020 (NYI)
Rudolfs Balcers
Anthony Duclair
Thoughts???
B.Tkachuk - Byfield/Stuzle - M.Tkachuk
Would love to pry open Tkachuk from Calgary and have another brother duo like the sedins in canucks this line would be incredible having the brothers work together. Flames are in a tight cap crunch, Seattle expansion might release some cap space but flames need a rebuild if eliminated in the early play in round.
Lets make this trade happen!!!

Sorry man, but that's only something that would go down in NHL 2020.
A more fair and realistic trade: Alex Formenton, Logan Brown, 2020 1st (NYI) |

Flames pass easily. If you want Tkachuk Let’s start with the 3rd and 5th overall picks And you can build on that |

Ask yourself would you trade BT for the package you just offered Calgary?
The Flames value Matthew as much as you guys value Brady and why would they not. You would have a better chance getting Monahan for that weak offer.

Flames are not going to give up their future captain arguably the best player and all the interchangeables Tkachuk brings that fits our teams need like a glove for any meh package.
Would you trade Brady Tkachuk for dube, 2020 1st Gadwin? |

1st 2 seasons in NHL
BT GP 142, PTS 89, PIM 181
MT GP 144, PTS 97, PIM 166
You would have a better chance getting Monahan for that weak offer. |

Would love to have the Tkachuk bros in Ottawa. Would be super unique. However, it will likely cost you a top 5 pick or maybe Chabot, which I think I might actually do if Ottawa drafted Drysdale. Matthew T is more skilled than Brady.
Likelihood of it happening is next to zero, but fun to dream. |

even that is a bad deal for Calgary......switch the isles pick to the 5th overall and MAYBE Calgary doesn't hang up the phone laughing. |

Not really there is no guarantee 3 or 5 hold a candle to Matthew who is proven.
Lets put the shoe on the other foot then.
To Ottawa
Gaudreau and the Flames 2021 1st
To Calgary
Brady Tkachuk |

I wouldn't want to be in Dorion's shoes when it comes to signing Tkachuck. The team has or will have lots of possibilities for the LW position. Players such as Norris, Formenton,Duclair + the 2020 draft picks like Stutzle, Byfield, Perfetti Rossi, + the late 1st round pick and all the 2nd round picks are all possibilities. If by any chance Tkachuck gets pushed down to the #3 line, 8mil. would be a little rich. I would bridge him in case you need to move him later. |

See the family history on contract negotiations (Keith, Matthew and soon Brady) They wont give up any UFA years so expect the deal to be a carbon copy of Matthews 3 years at 7 million, 1 year of arbitration that walks them to UFA.

Gaudreau and the Flames 2021 1 st don t worth the 3 and 5
I agree the two proposal was bad, do you consider the 5 th + Thomson + white + second rounder vs M.Tkachuk |

he didn't say 3 OR 5, he said 3 AND 5.
and your example isn't comparable...….the flames pick isn't a top 5, and right now Gaudreau is probably not worth a top 5 either. the two pieces that Cgy is offering up in your scenario are SIGNIFICANTLY less valuable than the 2 picks, but BT and MT are pretty similar in terms of perceived value |

not one single person you mentioned is as valuable as Tkachuk to this team, except maybe Stutzle (if that's who they get).
half the guys you mentioned (Norris, byfield, perfetti, rossi) are all centers, so having them has no bearing on where Tkachuk plays.....the only one who would MAYBE be switched to wing is Norris, but he still wouldn't supplant Tkachuk. he's locked in to the top six, nobody currently in this organization is good enough to push him out of it. |

The trade for Matt just doesnt fit. Two teams at very different places, Ottawa has lots of prospects but Calgary isnt going to want that as they should be in win now mode.
Ottawa would be equally hesitant to give up one if their top picks.
Unless there is a trade centered around Chabot... |

Honestly, the more I think a trade being centered around Chabot, it may work?
I know Sens fans will jump all over not trading Chabot, but there are strong defense prospects this draft that may be safer to take at 5 instead of taking more of a chance on a forward who isn't Byfield or Struzle.
I don't think it happens, but might be the only proposal that gets any ground without giving up a top 5 pick. |

I think it leaves too big a question mark on D, Ottawa could draft drysdale, but then all their D would be prospects, and who k OWS how ot turns out.
It also would make chabot a sort of sign and trade, and I think theyd want to avoid that after signing a big name player, considering everything. |

the issue I have with moving Chabot is that he's locked into a GREAT contract for the next 8 years. having a legit top pairing guy locked in at 8 mil, long term, would take the moon and stars for me to want to move that.
i'm not saying he's untouchable, but Matt Tkachuk is not the "must have" player that I would consider moving Chabot for.
if you're talking about a deal for a legit number one center, or maybe the 1st overall pick.....that's different......but I wouldn't move Chabot for Tkachuk |

Most junior centers end up on the W. Do you think that all the players taken by the Sens after their first 2 picks is going to be a support player. There will be a lot of players among the Sens prospects that will score 20-25G and play a much more solid 200ft game. |

That’s a Way better trade than the original post so it’s not even apples to apples - kresco
your trade offer was asinine....Tkachuk isn't worth the 3rd overall straight up, let alone also including the 5th. your suggestion that it's those 2 picks, plus more, is (frank)ing ridiculous. |
