I’d say Laughton although I think Couturier still doesn’t get the attention he deserves as a shutdown forward. When he’s out of the lineup the whole team just slumps big time.
Stats might not always reflect it but Laughton is one of those Swiss Army knife players you can put anywhere on the ice and know you’re going to get some real solid play from. And who can forget that game where he single-handedly drove the Flames wild? Swoon. |

Niskanen. Really brought depth and a Desjardins Timonen like calming presence to the d |

Hands down its Michael Raffl.
Lots of homers in Philly LOVE Scott Laughton, the little engine that could, and constantly are talking about how underrated he is, so in truth he is overrated. HE is a first round pick who was taken to play center, in a draft that was loaded with defensive talent and goaltending talent that would have helped the team. Turns out, he cant PLAY center in the NHL. Four coaches tried. NOPE. How can he be UNDERRATED, if he can't play even 4th line center as a first rounder?
NAK played well over a span of about 6 weeks at a time when his teammates were firing on all cylinders. before that period he was a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT, and many thought he should not even have been resigned for this season. Again, he is being hyped in the media, so he can't be "underrated". You have to actually demonstrate talent for more than 6 weeks to be "underrated".
Meanwhile, people are constantly saying how pretty much every other Flyers wing is netter than Raffl. I mean what has he done? On the top line at right wing, the line is consistently better by any measure than when Voracek or Konecny plays on that wing. He has played well with literally every center and on every line, played power play and PK well, and yet he gets little respect, even in his wallet. The fact that the "underrated" Laughton gets paid more than him is sort of a slap in the face, but Raffl just keeps showing up at the rink and playing great hockey. UNDER RATED. |

This is an asinine comment. The NHL is littered with wingers who were drafted as a center. That has zero bearing on a player's worth to this team and towards how good of a player he is. Laughton is a key player on this team. Whether a player is overrated or underrated has nothing to do with his draft position. It has to do with his current level of play. Laughton absolutely can play center in this league. It's jsut that he is better and fills a need better as a 3rd line winger who is strong on the PK and at ES. You're completely off base here.

Young players grow in steps. Aube-Kubel went from looking like he couldn't play in the NHL to a player who looks like he has a future. |

The Flyers coaches also stay on him and AV still doles out praise to him in measured doses. Minus a couple of slip ups after his recall, he has really responded. He was in the doghouse with the Phantoms until shortly before his recall. |

My initial thoughts were either of the 2 offseason defensemen we picked up in Nisky and Braun. But I do the see the case for NAK. Does all the things that don't show up in the stat sheet. He is starting to chip in more. |

Underrated is Niskanen. It’s criminal that the “A” was given to a goofball like Hayes, over a total silent pro like Niskanen. Niskanen isn’t afraid to say openly and honestly between period of how the team is playing. He does everything well. It’s Niskanen. - SuperSchennBros
goofball like hayes? he had more clutch goes than you can count to |
