Just talked to Fonzie...he says seth jones is really looking forward to meeting marner up the middle with his head down...

Not sure what that is in reference to...just passing it on.

I don't know about all that.. But he seems like a very viable choice going forward for Leafs.. Esp with what FA may want on his next contract.

Isn't it a little early to be writing the kid off ?? I don't see Marlie games but he's got good size and a poor WJC doesn't seem a like a be all end all for evaluation.

Woll's numbers with the Marlies were pretty abysmal. Granted, the Marlies weren't exactly a good club last year but he was pretty disappointing. His NCAA career didn't seem to show much growth (year-on-year) and he did have, as you mentioned, a "poor" (that's being generous) WJC tournament.

Who knows though? He might mature into something pretty good down the road somewhere. I just don't see anything in his game that leads me to believe there will be a revelation. And, if he does manage to impress, I doubt it will be soon enough to be an adequate replacement for Freddie.

Not writing him off completely -- just not putting much hope in him (or Scott, for that matter).

He was subpar with the Marlies.

But the Marlies also struggled as a whole, since most of the team was up with the Leafs. And the new coach isn't overly good.

From what I’ve read he has the mechanics and drive to be successful. He’s 20 and finished his first pro season...still a good goalie prospect for the Leafs.

He’s years away from being a potential starter.

This pandemic might end up helping the Leafs with a Freddy contract...they could sign him to a 3 year deal for exactly what he is worth over a flat cap.

Looking at raw goalie stats? Because I don’t put a lot of stock in that, especially in minor league hockey.

Well what else am I supposed to base it on? Is it not fair to compare his stats to other goalies on the same team?
