I wouldn’t want him to play Cozens more off the bat unless he’s on Eichel’s line.

Again, who’s a logical 3C candidate that we aren’t wasting assets, for a short term stop gap to Cozens?

I assume we’re all on board a 2C needs to be acquired

- sbroads24

I dont know: I guess Soderberg, Haula or someone of that caliber.

Side note:

I would like to say that while I disagree with you, I appreciate you being civil because I feel like this place dissolves into lunacy and name calling quickly. I just wanted to point that out, that I actually enjoy engaging on topics without name calling and shouting and this place needs more of that

This is an entire separate issue that has to do with not getting good forwards + coaches being coaches.

I still don’t see a better logical 3c unless you’re thrusting Cozens into a defensive center role or you’re trading for a defensive minded 2C. Or you’re starting Mittelstadt at 3C.

- sbroads24

Why does the 3C have to be on a checking line? The Sabres were most successful when they had three scoring lines in recent memory. The fourth line can be the checking line and there are going to be players available due to the cap and they won't all be top paid ones. I would consider Larsson a goner and a waste of time contemplating keeping him.

I would love Cozens to center the third with MoJo and Kohun but we always get our hopes up for 8th and now this is a 7th pick overall and are usually disappointed right away. They need to trade for a 2nd center to play with Skinner and maybe Thompson, Jack with OV and ?

The Fourth Line - They trade or sign a FA for a 2 way center, Okposo and whoever

Their two most successful teams. 05-07 was 3 scoring lines that could erase a 3 goal deficit in minutes. Late 90s defensive grinding team with goat goalie.

That’s in my life. I don’t know about 70s and 80s

Sure. I’m wondering who we could get as a 3C, who’d provide value, for under 2.5-3.0, without giving up any assets? I know for sure it isn’t Curtis Lazar.

The really smart idea is to resign Larsson to be the 3C, use the assets you have to acquire a 2C, and let Lazar or Asplund be the 4C.

That way Cozens can start on the wing and get acclimated

I don’t think Larsson stays though.

- sbroads24

So, I am NOT saying Lazar as 3C, only 4C...so we agree.
At 3C I would like a guy who can put up 30sh pts..about 0.4 ppg,
Not the guy who struggles puting up 0.25 in 14:30 a night.

I could live with Soderberg or Haula short term.

My issue is that we absolutely need to move assets for a 2C. If Larsson leaves the 3C needs to be addressed unless Mittelstadt magically takes a leap.

What I don’t want to happen is an additional investment in a 3C with assets and cap when in all reality, Larsson could play 3C for a year and then slide to 4C if/when Cozens is really good. But I think he’s gone anyway

And last paragraph, feeling is mutual. I’m as sarcastic as they come but I don’t see why it can’t be civil around here.

I was going to bed in the 70's during the games but they had 6 twenty or more goal scorers

I still fail to see how letting Larsson walking is beneficial to the Sabres at all.

If Johan wants out then so be it but it is in the best interests of the team to keep him around

I'm sure they will try but I doubt he will stay he has a very negative attitude about the team and alot of people have noticed it ..

And hopefully we're not dumb enough to give him 2.7 -3m

Agree to disagree.
No way I'd pay that for a 4th line center.

2C = new acquisition
3C = Cozens at $900k
4C = Lazzar at $900k - $1.0m

No room for $2.75. No need for 3 years.

And if everything goes to plan

Skinner- Jack - Vo
Saad - Strome - Reinhart
Kahun- Cozens- Holtz/ mjo
Simmonds - Hanzal- Kyle

Mojo. Kahun. Cozens. All play 3c In different situations and scenarios. It’s the non-binary line.

Agreed with the above. We all have to remember the most important word in Pegula's dictionary - "efficiency". They won't be a cap team any longer. We might as well get realistic with what the team will look like from a cap hit perspective. Maybe $75 million (all in) for 2020?

Problem is the 19 year old is the only natural center of the three.

If that how it works out, fine. But the 2C they acquire needs to have some defensive acumen.

Agree there. And I can see them rolling those 3 in a line. Supposedly Kahun has played center at some point in his career.

In highschool I used to own floor hockey in gym. And I was a goalie when I played. I scored off a face off once because the opponent said there was no way I could do that. It was hilarious how easy it was
