In this landscape of the NHL, I would be surprised if they went higher than 3.5mill. Supposedly Hall was just offered a 5yr 7.5mill a year contract by Arizona. Not gonna get it done, but I don't expect a lot of big money thrown around for the next few years.
- Buff36

On top of that, if Olofsson truly believes in himself, he'd want a short term deal to have a chance at cashing in when the cap starts increasing again.

I liked Berglund. I was never big on Vlad
- sbroads24

Maybe liked was too strong a word?
U did say something like “good depth player” though
I was just joking anyways though

Did u see my post about Olofsson’s lack of shots,
and why that’s happening?
Curious if there’s stats that point towards an answer there

He’ll be a top 5 Fantasy QB this year easily.

I watch a lot of the Lions as my pops is a Detroit fan.

I think he’s one of the most underrated players of the past decade in the NFL.

Of course it’s tough to get attention when the team always misses the playoffs.

Not if their defense plays well & they actually have a running game for the first time in forever

I hear ya
But if it’s 3.5m, then how long is that deal?
I’d guess 3yrs tops

Just saying it might be smarter to lock him up for 5mil now, so we don’t have to pay him 7 or 8 per in a few years

Some players are very selective shooters and others, like Skinner, are volume shooters.

Too soon to tell where Olofsson fits in that regard.

- kingcong39

That doesn’t really answer my original post though

Is it that he’s not shooting?
Or that he’s not getting the opportunities to do so bc Jack & Sam are always carrying the puck?

Lol... i guess you’d have us there
He’s gotta play a certain number of games to get on the Cup though, right?
Or at least play 1 game in the finals i think?
It’s something like that

Well it wouldn't surprise me, there's only so much money to go around, that's why I think the Sabres will have a chance with some of these FA, compared to other years.

I certainly didn’t think Sobotka would be that bad that’s true

Honestly I’m hoping with Olofsson he just needs to adjust and find room and will goong forward.

Contrary to belief I don’t dislike him at all.

Just not anywhere near he should be locked in on Eichel’s hip long term

Wonder if the Sabres would consider trading olloffson?

You're making me nervous again 😟

It's so clear that the Sabres have 1 or 2 top talents and not much else.

Olloffson's trade (trade) value in relation to sam? What's your guess?

- Boss34

I'm really not trying to scare you or anyone else. I just don't see this star ability that some others do. Obviously he can shoot on the PP...but he was the focal point and our PP was bad.

I doubt he's going to be moved, but I can't imagine he has half the trade value that Sam does. No real secret that I think Sam is a little over-rated as well. Evaluating the top producers on bad teams is always complicated.

I’ll make my display picture Josh Allen for a year if the Lions don’t win the North.

And you can make your Display picture Drew Lock if they do ?

I’m open to suggestions

- Pegullaville

That seems really fair , maybe we shorten the term a bit.

Maybe until the start of the 2022 season (training camp in. July)

Good one, like it

Back to Sabres Dmen being limited by Kruegers system.
Read this, by Chad DiDomincis
https://www.expectedbuffa...disconnect-in-transition/

Here's a good summary though:
I started by looking at zone-entries per 60 minutes among all defensemen in the data by team to see where the Sabres ended up. ...they ranked 30th in the league in carry-ins by defensemen per 60 minutes. Thus confirming that the system they play under Krueger did not have defenders carrying the puck into the zone often.

The next thing I wanted to tackle were the dump-ins. Let’s see how often they went that route. Again, to no surprise they had the highest percentage of entries via dump-ins in the NHL at 68%.]

Tying this all back in, we have another example of a disconnect between the head coach and general manager. Botterill went out to acquire good transition defenders, yet the coach puts a system in place that clips their wings.

Remember when Rasmus Dahlin got off to a tough start? The coaching staff wanted him to focus more on defense at the cost of potentially declining his offensive impact.

I guess the BradentonInsider was right all along.

I think he should be put in the middle six and PP1 time with his lethal shot.

If he can prove he can start finding space to get his shot off, it’s another discussion.

Getting some favorable matchups should help him

Erod could at least flip the ice. He sucks at scoring but he’s fine as a utility player.

Lazar has done absolutely nothing

I would be fine with both fast Larry and Lazard Larry both being gone. None of them serve a purpose that any rando ufa can’t
