3rd liners don’t get 18min a night
- jdfitz77
3rd line gets 13-14 minutes 5 on 5 time per game
another 1.5 on pp time, second unit
and another 2.5 on pk
I mean larsson got close to 15 minutes a night with no pp time

Does it really need to be said ?
The frank you give someone 72 million dollars over 8 years then. - Pegullaville
It just doesn’t make sense to assume they signed him to play on his own line,
when the entire year he played with us he was on Jack’s wing
I understand why they tired that,
Bc it’s no secret that we desperately need a 2nd line that can score regularly
But i don’t see anything to back your assumption that Skinner was signed strictly for that reason
Should’ve just left him with Jack
He was on pace for over 50goals before the injury,
wasn’t he? |

You watch Tampa Bay Lightning games, does Brayden Point not get PP goals from his position in the high slot in the umbrella formation ?
Or is Stammer, Hedman, Kucherov the only ones that score ? |

Yeah, that's a major reason why they have been bottom feeders. If you don't have the soldiers you have a tough time winning the battles.

Olofsson who just scored 20goals in his 54gams rookie season will be “in & out of the lineup”
while u have Tage in his LW spot with 10goals in 107games
Makes tons of sense

18min a night is unrealistic for a 3rd liner
And blaming the coach for not putting him with a Center who can “dish the puck” when we didn’t have one is ridiculous |

a well run team doesn't use the same pp move for 40 games
the sabres are not a well run team

Homie, Skinner only had 8 power play goals in 2018-2019 of his 40
11 out of 20 of Olofosson's goals this season were on the power
play
Really Skinner should have been playing with Eichel 5 on 5 this year
Special teams really killed this team this year especially PK
Skinner and Olofsson played much different positions on the PP
Olofsson was in his "office" as a shooter and Skinner was down low in front of the net a lot, it is where he scored a lot of his goals that season

You're right to a point
But there isn't a player in the league other than the top 10 players that can drive a line and be successful at it with the likes of players Skinner was playing with.
Skinner Eichel Olofsson
Try it out, move Sam to center (if it doesn't work play him on the wing)
Unless you get a true good second line center |

Wasn’t it you that said something to the effect of “put me on Eichel’s wing and I’ll score X amount of goals”?
Put yourself on Eichel’s wing 5 on 4 and isn’t that the same premise?
They all count. They aren’t all indicative of the same amount of skill or being good hockey players |

I agree
the first 30 or so games, the entire pp was setting up olofsson
it worked for the first 10 or so games
the year before, jack was able to be more creative on the pp
our pp was ranked 16th in 18-19
20th in 19-20 |

Sometimes you have to take anecdotal evidence from wiser people than us. Skinner's previous team took a heap of crap to rid themselves of him, the most valuable part was a 2nd round pick that they took to rid themselves of him. He is a floater and not very structured on his line maybe that is why Jack scored more with OV and Skinner never went back on his line?
He scored 4 goals in his last 25 games the year before, he had his Drew Stafford like contract year completed and the money was all but in the bank.
You would think a player who signed for 9 million would command more than the most valuable piece going back being a 2nd round pick and I think we saw why last year. He averages 40+ pts a year. GMJB was had, taken, played.

putting skinner with johansson and sobotka is like putting reinhart between pouliot and griffith
if they wanted to split up skinner and jack
given the crap they had, should have been skinner, casey, and johansson for the second line
vesey-larsson-shearry for the third line
