Yeah Canes have looked like a team that deserves to be in the playoffs today. Rangers look like a team that wouldn't of made the playoffs if not for covid. - evitageN
Pretty much, but I think they would have squeaked into the playoffs the way they were rolling before covid hit. |

As someone who didnt have a horse in the race, I really enjoyed this game. Carolina had the momentum for most of the game, and yet for most of the game they were just one mishap away from being tied.
It didnt *feel* like playoff hockey with the lack of fans, but it *looked* like playoff hockey the way the two teams were engaged.
The refs seemed to be in pre-season form.
Totally objective analysis: The Rangers need more from Panarin, Zibanejad, and Kreider.. and yet, even with those guys not playing particularly well, they were in the game and had a chance to tie, late. |

Hank was good and I really didn’t mind staal’s game. I know the game winner was off his foot but overall not a bad game from him |

I mean, despite most of the team not showing up, it was still a close game on the scoreboard. Imagine if our big guns actually played at half of what they're capable of. This series ain't over yet.
Also, a lot of guys playing their first post season games. How they all respond in Game 2 will tell us a lot. |

I had the NBCSN feed (i'm assuming you guys got a local feed?) and Brian Boucher said, in the days of the best of 5 format the team that won game 1 went on to win the series 83% of the time... and then he said, the last time there was a best of 5 was in 1986. (i thought it was more recent than that)
I think we can throw that 83% out, though.

Score flattered you guys but yeah, Hank was fine. Staal was physical and steady.
Fox and Tony D don't look right.

I thought DeAngelo looked fine when he had the puck on his stick and not good when he didnt, which is about what I usually think of him.

I expect more from these guys in game 2. There has to be more, can't go down 2-0. |
