Someone replied this to the Penguins twitter account and I thought it was funny

Still don't know how to feel about that win.

It's actually a can't lose situation Pat.

If we lose to the Pens, we either have the first overall or a top 10 pick. That's a win.

If we beat the Pens or any other team after that (even if it remains unlikely) we actually get to see some good, fun hockey while our young, important players like Suzuki and Kotkaniemi get some significant experience moving forward. That's a win.

I agree with you on this, but at the same time I was thinking that it might be futile since looking at the roster you know your chances of getting far are slim. I had this feeling especially after the game against TO, but tonight makes me realize those games might indeed be beneficial for the kids, even if it's a 1st round exit.

but losing Fern AND the top 10 pick would really (frank)in suck...

It would, it would.

Hence why my initial favorite scenario was losing in a close series in 5 and getting Lafrenière.

But they, that won't make me stop cheering for them!

its one game. as a fan you want to at least see your team play like they give a (frank). there is an 87.5% chance you don't get Leffy anyway.

I can only cheer for them to win as well, it just sucks that there are "consequences" related to winning.

oh well, win-win it is I guess lol

exactly. i won't root for them to lose but if they do, it won't piss me off as much. worse is they pick 9/10. some really good players should be there.

depends on the draft, no?

but I'm aware you can also grab good players later in the draft, a classic example being Gallagher as a 5th rounder

Too many fans assume we would get lafrenière.

I still think getting the 9th overall is better for the team long term though.

Happy to see Suzuki and Kotkaniemi performing though

I would be ok if they kept that 12.5% but didn't win the lottery, at least they had a chance. losing the 12.5% would just feel like missing out on a very nice opportunity

oh, well I'm not aware of how deep exactly the draft is supposed to be, but I can't help but think a 9th pick definitely sounds better than 16th

maybe. like i was telling pat, from 7 to 20 in this draft there isn't much difference in quality of players. especially in the forward group.

Really? You think that one of Rossi/Perfetti/Holtz will dramatically change the habs? I don’t. The only players at this year draft capables to have an impact on the Habs roster in a near future are Lafrenière, Stutzle (SP?), Sanderson and Drysdale. All 4 will be gone before the 9th pick. I won’t lie in my pool i had the Pens in 3, a prediction that seemed spot on after the exhibition game against the Leafs but truth is, they played well yesterday and despite being roasted in the talent department, they gave an A+ effort last night so i will cheer for them if they keep playing like that.

Oh and Pat, Riverdancers don’t exist...si ça peut te rassurer.
