I still think it's possible we see both Clifford and Toffoli on the Kings next season. Vancouver is reportedly not going to be re-upped in Vancouver (they can't afford him and Boeser). Clifford deserves a raise and Toronto likely can't afford to give him one. Plus, the leafs might not be keen to give up a 2nd round pick.

Especially with the flat cap, both Toffoli and Clifford might be inclined to take a one or two year deal with a larger cap hit (the Kings can afford that right now) and make their splash in UFA in a couple seasons when the HRR has a chance to normalize a bit.

I'd much rather have Toffoli and Clifford in the lineup than Carter and Moore.

Not really. The only contracts remaining that the Kings would like to be rid of are Carter and Quick. Not sure they can get anything of value in return for either one. Quick will likely stay on and finish his contract. Carter will play this season, and if he doesn't improve, he will be bought out next summer.

Carter's cap hit would be reduced significantly and the club gets a discount on the actual payout because he had a front loaded contract. This would be appealing to open up a roster spot. I like the idea of moving in a bad contract from a cash-strapped team for picks/prospects if the situation is right, but this is a decent second option
