RIP Dale Hawerchuk and prayers to his entire family at this horrible time. I saw him play in his Winnipeg Jet days and he is without a doubt one of the top players of all time. It is sad to see him pass so young.

RIP Dale.

One of the most talented players of my generation that I was privileged to witness.

very sad day in Winnipeg today.
I was though happy to hear there is a Hawerchuk statue in the works for Winnipeg and Dale was told before he passed.

Greatest Jet of all time and arguably one of the top 5 most underrated players of all time.

Pure class of a player who really put the Jets on the NHL map. He was an exceptional player to watch and could score from anywhere on the ice, anyway he wanted. He represented the City of Winnipeg so well always speaking so highly of his time there and throughout the province. So many great memories of Dale playing in the arena and leading the Jets. Never to be forgotten!

It has alway surprised me how the Toronto sports media seldom referred to him at all. I feel many of them are just learning how great he was now when his stats are revealed.

I loved Hawerchuk as a kid. Wasn't really a Jets fan, but being from Saskatchewan I got to see more of their games than many others. Later, his Hall of Fame induction speech is one of the most real you will see. It was thoughtful, and rehearsed like preparing for a playoff game, with what appears to be no cue cards or prompter. "To ask for more would be greedy....". Cancer sucks.

I had the fortune of watching him play live quite often during the Buffalo years. He was the unnoticed star of a team that had Lafontaine, Mogilny, Hasek, Fuhr. Never took a shift off and never ever made himself more important than the game. A true hockey player. Rest easy #10.

One of the great greats. He belongs up there with all the greats who played in his era. He was dangerous and could keep up with all of them. Setup the Gretzky to Lemieux goal against Russia in the 80s. That says a lot of all the guys who could have been on that line, it was Hawerchuk Gretzky Lemieux
