Thank you for all the hard work Bill!

Flyers don't win a cup while G and V are still on the team. Bottom line here. Let's keep changing coaches and blame it on the young guys but it's these two that are the problem.

I am fine with putting some of the burden on them this year. They are the leaders of the team and they came up short. This team has enough depth now that G and Voracek don't need to produce night in and night out to win games. They do need to produce some though.

But stating they will never win the cup with them is hyperbole. They have a two year window before decisions needs to be made.

I think we’ve seen that last of Jake. I think we are stuck with JVR. Giroux isn’t going anywhere. No clue what to do with Ghost.

Jake shouldn’t be moved imo. Sure he struggled against the Isles but the whole team did. I don’t think we win MTL series without Jake’s points and effort.

Jake will be tougher to trade than JVR. He has a longer contract with a higher annual value.

I do think Ghost gets moved. His contract is reasonable.

Bill are there any European players they flyers may have an interest in at all? Be it former NHL guys or guys who have always played in Europe. Any potential diamonds in the rough there?

Calgary blogger posted thread on Sean Monahan trading suitors. It’s he’s on the block, I hope Fletcher is involved. He can score.

We need some burners.
Clever play and a grind 'em out style CAN work against speed. But it can't consistently defeat those who can avoid your cleverness and determination.
What I didn't understand in the the two rounds presented was the sudden absence of our 'clever' players abilities to pass, to score and to respond. They did not look to be determined.
The PP (Was there a PP?), DUDE! The on-ice charades should result in a penalty on their pay! When you put 30+ million dollars of salary on the ice with the man advantage and this was the result?
It's very hard to not fault them.
As to the coaching during this period, AV's ability to challenge should be questioned. He also didn't jiggle the pieces quite right. He also let Therrien stay on his staff.
I felt that the D were the only units to be near their capacity at play.
Our goalies should be honored for not going out there and slashing a few of our forwards. Immediate feedback may have helped, eh? They would have wanted to be in the offensive zone a lot more!
The Hab-nots and the Ugliers (I'm so trivial.) showed what needs to be buttressed. Draft slots are not likely to be bountiful. Contracts are in a neutral situation. Principal pieces are what they are and stable.
Fletcher needs to be dealing for the characters that can reform the offense primarily, in my mind.
But as a fan it was just like sex, the foreplay was verging on great but the finale was just barely OK. But all sex is good sex and this season in the main was 'good'.
(I've used these phrases before. Maybe due to age related deficiencies?)

https://www.usatoday.com/...bay-lightning/3492026002/

The reasons why the Blue Jackets won the series: a relentless forecheck, tight defensive play, an improved power play and strong goaltending. Bobrovsky had a .940 save percentage coming into Game 4 and stopped 30-of-33 in the finale.

The Lightning lost it because their top players didn’t step up until Game 4. Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point and Tyler Johnson only combined for two goals in the four games. That foursome scored 156 goals in the regular season. Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy wasn’t at his best. Defenseman Victor Hedman was hurt. The Lightning weren’t the same team we saw throughout the season

The Flyers have definite issues. They’re not a direct parallel to last season’s Lightning, but there’s enough similarities to remain calm & see what Fletcher does to address those issues.

Voracek was probably our best forward after Hayes in the playoffs, not sure what all this we’ve seen his last days here garbage is. Good luck trading a guy in his 30s that makes $8M

I think Ghost would be traded this offseason. I really like his talent but it seems like he can't bring the top level consistently. If they can find a taker for JVR that is a good trade for the Flyers they should do it. If not, make sure he goes in the Seattle draft. Jake and G aren't going anywhere.

I do not resign Braun, Thompson or Grant. The Flyers have plenty of depth at forward that should get a look this season. I would resign Hagg if they trade Ghost and let Braun walk. Need a veteran player in the bottom pair. Generally a bad idea for two rookies to learn the NHL as a pair.

They will resign Myers, Patrick, NAK and Elliot.

Obviously look into bringing in a bonafide sniper. There are very few of them and they are not cheap.

I think this team will continue improve organically with the young guys continuing to improve year in and year out. They have the goalie.

This!

I really don’t think we need huge changes. As Giroux said, I like this team. People are so quick to forget how good we played as a team in the regular season just because we lost to the Isles. A couple of tweaks and I think we are fine. Fire Therrien, resign Moose and Pitlick (maybe) Depending on their ask, and see where we are with internal growth. The flat cap will make it hard for all teams. I can see us having a very similar roster and bolstering up at the TDL to address the smaller holes like we did with Grant and Thompson

I heard a rumor from a buddy at work that he read, Taylor Hall is tired of playing for poop teams and willing to do a Hossa in Detroit type signing.

Can a team trade a player and include cash in the deal? Example JVR makes 7 flyers say we will pay 2 of that 7 but the other team takes the full cap hit.

The last Flyers goalie to rightfully call out the team got railroaded.

Sorry I miss read the first time. You can retain cap hit. It would be the same for each of the remaining years of the contract. The Leafs retained $1.2mil when they traded Kessell. You can retain up to 50% of the annual cap hit.

Thanks for everything you did to keep us informed this season Bill! I thought about this the last couple days because I didn’t want to make an emotional comment but I believe it’s time for a new captain. I like G personally. I think he’s a great human being and all, but I feel like it’s time. The coaches can use the offseason to soften the transition and do it respectfully. Claude has been a good captain. Give him an A next season so he can help the new captain. The thing is, I’m not so sure the new captain is even on the team at the moment. Coots, Provy, Laughton seem to have the same quiet demeanor and I think we need someone who is more vocal in the room, not afraid to be the bad guy like Simmonds was or Pronger. Just my 2 cents. Thanks.

It’s interesting that this blog is titled Flyers warriors in anyway because we don’t have any. Right now I miss a Wayne Simmonds, Scott Hartnell, Ian Laperriere, Mike Richards type of player.

So the reality is they are not going to do much, of which i tend to agree. It will come internally unless some magic is made.

To get that sniper they will have to give to get and many wont like the give imo.
